Getting back into the series after not reading it since March made for a mildly tough time, but the reality is that there hasn't been a lot of depth to the series overall. The classic approach is kind of endearing, to be honest, and the artwork is a big part of the hook. The giant aspect of the Great Vault kind of amuses me, but I also like that it keeps things to a relatively small scale for the characters themselves. I'm looking forward to what's next and am hoping that it's a bit more regular for a few issues at least. The commitment to a twelve-issue story is still a big part of the appeal. Read Full Review
The best laid plans never go off without a hitch. The writing pushes Kais counter attacks into a firestorm. Smallman and company construct the high drama with some surprises along the way. The saga of Kai never ceases to hold readers attention as it carves its explosive path. Read Full Review
Arcbound #5 is an entertaining issue, action packed almost from start to finish. Kyras return doesnt provide the deepest character advancement but is a welcome event. Given that, it seems like Arcbound will remain an exciting sci-fi adventure but only deliver character depth at the margins. Read Full Review
Plot
TKai, Zon, Barnes, and Alvarez arrive at the Great Vault. Kai requests access and takes the opportunity to contact his wife, Kyra, who, despite being trapped by Xander, manages to grant him access.
Xander visits Kyra and the two have an argument. Kyra defeats him but is unable to escape.
Kai, Alvarez, and Barnes try to enter using the old fictional prisoner trick, but are discovered by Xander, who goes there to confront Kai. General Crush also arrives with a group of soldiers. Zon manages to create a distraction, and they finally get Kai, Barnes, and Alvarez into the secret vault, only to discover an alien chained inside.
The fight sequence in the Great Vault is exciting and intense.

At first I was lost because this hasn't been out in a while. As the story went on, I started to remember and it got more entertaining.
