Just when I thought issue #21 couldn't be topped, Hickman deals with the aftermath by having the "heroes" actually live with the consequences of their actions. In a medium where characters are treated as merchandise icons mostly that's something we don't see often. In fact, the scope of the Illuminati's actions is such that it should affect and change the characters far beyond the current arc and the title within which it is contained.
So, Hickman doesn't shy away from the task. He handles each character with great accuracy and, yes, compassion. The heroes actually believe this is the end so their reaction is pretty much genuine and all too human - a Marvel staple. This time there is no Namor to make the hard choices. Or is there...?
PS: Kev Walker is a great artist but he needs some time to find his pace and style on this book. I expect great things from him in the future.
