DeConnick and Lopez are absolutely superb at blending of genres and tone without a false or jarring note as they switch from comedy to horror to coming-of-age to the trials and tribulations of parenthood, as well as the anguish of realizing that your days of being oh so cool are long gone. Magnificently done.

The Pale Knight #1
England, 1349. Sir Hugh de Grey, the Pale Knight, returns from war to find a land ravaged by the Black Death, and his son dying of the plague. When he prays to God to save his son's life, it is not God who answers-but Death himself. And Death is willing to cut a deal.
A satisfying end to a fantastic series. My only quibble is that I think an extra handful of pages would have enable the creative team to stick the landing a tiny bit more solidly. Still, one of my favorite series of 2025 and I cannot wait to see what they come up with next.

Revenge tales are nothing new, although when done well, they can still be extremely satisfying. And this series not only has a new take, but is done EXTREMELY well.
