While it would probable make for some terrible storytelling, it's unfortunate that these children cannot find much of a respite in between being attacked or fearing for their lives.  Emma and her smaller band had been traveling the demon world looking for clues on how to make the world safe for humans, so the rest of the kids did get a year to be in the shelter and "relax" as much as they could in what was still a fairly dangerous area, but Emma and her travel buddies weren't home long before the Ratri camp attacks and drives them out and on the move once again.  Some readers will appreciate the frenetic pace of this series, but others might experience some fatigue.  I, however, appreciate the difference from the beginning of this series when it seemed like the pace was glacial, and the kids would never get out of their "orphanage".
