Doom Patrol #10

All of this big blue hippos and inflatable pandas, Mr. Nobody and Richard the clerk at Retconn comes together so delectably that Doom Patrol #10 stands no chance but to be read and re-read, studied, analyzed, dissected, and sampled. This issue IS Doom Patrol, and Way, Derington, Fowler, Bonvillain, and Klein make sure there is no mistaking this for any other title, giving us everything Doom Patrol can be, has been, and should be all in one story. If I had to pick out something that disappointed me in this issue it would be that Mr Nobody doesnt get as much play as I had expected he would. But that is such a minor quibble. To the surprise of no one, Doom Patrol #10 is batshit crazy. I've read every issue and, while I think I know what's going on, I can't be 100% certain. Maybe it's the beautiful, pop-art inspired work by the art team of Nick Derington, Tom Fowler, and Tamra Bonvillain. Maybe because it's unlike any other book on the market. Maybe I'm a sadist. Whatever the reason, this series keeps pulling me back in. It definitely isn't for everyone, even if it has something for everyone. Read Full Review

This book continues to be wacky and fun. It's unique narrative style entertains and challenges the reader from numerous angles. The only drawback is the erratic publishing schedule. You never know what's going to happen next. Not many books are able to pull this off consistently. Read Full Review

At times,Doom Patrolseems to be Morrisonian for the sake of being Morrisonian, but Way's writing has sly humor and bits of sweet humanity and Derington, Fowler, and Bonvillain's art has a manic, sugar high rush that makes it stand out from DC's more “traditional” books. This issue is trying to be a little too cute for a series that comes out so irregularly. Next issue's solicit has been pulled already, so like I tell you every time an issue of Doom Patrol comes out, wait for the trade collection. I admit that maybe I'd like this issue more if I had any investment in these characters, but there's only a few that I know and care about that are in this issue. And Superman doesn't show up until the end. It's the equivalent of reading an X-Men comic from an era you're not familiar with, with a team featuring mostly characters you don't know, and things that have been happening in that continuity that you have no idea about. Like always a awesome crazy story. I like how each part of the story progress rapidly. It's a very silly story. But I love to follow it. One issue before the crossover. If the Crossover not begin before the 11 come out. Cover - I take the variant. Very beautiful. But as the regular not link to the story. 1/2 Writing - I'm fond of this team. 3/3 Arts - Fun & nice like always. I love all character thanks to the artist. 3/3 Feeling - My Doom Patrol for ever 2/2
