The first issue of Titan Comics Conan The Barbarian gave me everything I wanted from a Conan story. The art is primal and energetic in a way that takes you along for the adventure. The story is brilliantly balanced between narration and dialog making it feel like the classic Conan stories I love. Jim Zub delivers a story that has an element of mystery to it. As we are left wondering who or what is behind this unstoppable army of soldiers who are single-mindedly taking out entire communities. There’s some really awesome action here, drawn wonderfully and backed up by great narration and dialogue. This is a strong start to this series, and a solid introduction to the character and universe.

BRILLIANT!! No, it's not an innovative and new take on the character. No, it's not a quirky, niche response to ancient stereotypes. No, it's not a startling creative explosion of left-field ideas and experimental art...No, it's just Conan, the barbarian. Written and illustrated by two gentlemen of true pedigree. Mr Zub has a long line of top selling Marvel titles in his C.V. and Rob De La Torre is simply a fabulous artist and only matched on Conan - in the present day and in a different style - by Steve McNiven. For Conan to grab the imagination of the comic buying public you need to stay true to the original tales and always need the best artists. Loved it!!
