Arcade Kings feels like sitting at your favorite arcade game with a bucket full of quarters, a sour slushy drink, and some epic music blaring through your headphones. It's as much a great comic to read as it is a feel-good experience.

Arcade Kings keeps surprising me in delightful ways as it continues to be that story I want to drop my quarters into. It's bright, flashy, and has a plot that feels perfectly juggled between the quick and quirky storytelling and the S-ranked super-move sequential sequences.

Arcade Kings is the best video game adaptation of a video game that never existed.

I've waited over 20 years for Battle Chasers to return and I can say with zero hesitation that it was worth the wait. The story, character development, and world-building is a masterclass in sword and sorcery elevating the genre while at the same time making it uniquely its own.

I have poured my heart out in this article and told you next to nothing about the issue and I think that's okay. Because I've waited more than half my life for this issue of Battle Chasers and I'm not disappointed.

Battle Chasers #12 is phenomenal, let's get that out of the way first. If you want to know if this book is good or not, yes, 100%, it's great. If you love Sword and Sorcery, you are going to think this is a fantastic issue.

The first issue of Titan Comics Conan The Barbarian gave me everything I wanted from a Conan story. The art is primal and energetic in a way that takes you along for the adventure. The story is brilliantly balanced between narration and dialog making it feel like the classic Conan stories I love. And the plot of this first issue takes you through some of the best things about the Hyperborean age firmly anchoring this book in my must-read category if you are a fan of Sword and Sorcery.

As a fan of the original Saturday Morning cartoon, I'm pumped. It captures the essence of the 80s cartoon with its vivid artwork, fun characters, and adventurous spirit. I can't wait till issue #3 drops. This is such a fun book and long-time fans of D&D will feel right at home as this Saturday Morning Adventure unfolds.

It was a good comic, but the art did not dazzle as much and the story did not grip me. The arc needed to have this moment for sure but the whole issue just kinda lacked the sparkle that the first two issues had. Hopefully, this is just where the story catches its breath for the next epic adventure moment.As all my gamers can attest, you can't always roll critical hits.

Eight Limbs is a slice-of-life story that comes out swinging and delivers a one-two punch of in-the-ring action and from-the-heart storytelling.

As far as collections of short stories from strange settings go, Extreme Vennonverse #1 does a great job of showing how diverse the symbiotic antihero can be. I for one can't wait to see what weird wonders these talented teams will weave us in the next installment.

if you love the Hellboy universe and the interconnected stories that spring from it, Miss Truesdale And The Fall of Hyperborea is a must-have for your collection. Not only is it a phenomenal weird fiction tale that I'm sure will stand the test of time but it is clearly another thread in the beautiful tapestry that Mike Mignola has created with the Hellboy universe.

Those who are versed in the lore of the Hellboy Universe are going to find the contents of Miss Truesdale and the Fall of Hyperboria to be nothing short of a revelatory addition to the ever-weaving threads of a world full of wonder, horror, and spellbinding mythology that is as timeless as the characters who drive it.

Miss Truesdale and The Fall of Hyperborea showcase why Mignola is not only a spectacular writer who elevates storytelling with each new tale he weaves, but that the lore his work encompasses and inspires is nothing short of timeless.

Pet Peeves does this thing where it lets you get comfortable. You kinda fall into the same rut of chaos and frustration that the protagonist deals with in her day-to-day life. You become part of the fabric of the story and you see all the things she can clearly see about herself that are pushing others away but you also empathize with the want to be your own true self. All of this makes the horror weirdness, when it eventually comes, even more powerful and it elevates the whole book into something really special.

Project Riese #1 is a slow burn that is clearly building toward what I hope is a massive fast paced exploration of an abandoned wonderland of pseudo-science centers and horror-filled hallways, in the search for stolen gold and survival. 

The Third Nightmare is a moody and surreal take on the classic Frankenstein tale.

Purr Evil starts off strong with some great action beats and the looming feeling that something sinister is on the horizon.

Alexandre Ristorcelli skillfully adapts Genefort's story of a world teetering on the edge of destruction, bringing it to life with stunning artwork that will leave readers breathless and delighted with each page turn. 

Something Epic #1 feels like I am looking at a fractured mirror of my childhood crafted by a beautiful and emotionally heavy mind. If you are a fan of strange stories and emotionally laced adventures, this is a comic you are not going to want to miss.

Something Epic continues to parallel the harsh realities we have all been forced to face from time to time and the characters we use to help us escape those stressors made manifest. Szymon Kudranski provides one of the most intelligently crafted commentaries on how we as people navigate this thing called life that I have ever seen.

Star Wars: The High Republic Adventures Quest of the Jedi One-Shot is the kind of book that could be great for a younger reader who may be into Star Wars but who does not want to try and tackle a long-running series quite yet.

On the surface, it's easy to dismiss Starsigns as a run-of-the-mill superhero comic. However, once you get into the meat of the story there is a really grounded, and timely feeling and tone that reminds me of how I use to feel when I would read Generation X in the 90s. The series is light and entertaining but also feels like it's really relevant in the current global conversation.

Fans of beloved animated shows like Avatar: The Last Airbender and The Legend of Korra will feel right at home in this brightly colored fantasy romp, filled with larger-than-life villains, witty airship captains, adorable creatures, and epic action beats that practically leap off the page.

Something about this book scares me, and it's not the clawed monsters. There is an undertone throughout that feels a little too “ripped from the headlines” familiar, in a way that pulls me out of the story and makes me worry that the survivalists are going to end up being more evil and hate-filled than the clawed creatures. It's such a cool setup that I hope I'm wrong.

Tales of Vulcania has the feel of a sprawling epic in the making, and I'm looking forward to witnessing its growth because it is a fiery new addition to the genre that shows a lot of promise and potential. 

This book looks beautiful, reads well, and is a testament to the skill and effort Stan Sakai puts into everything he does. A true work of art from cover to cover, with heart and style that swells like a cinematic orchestra and cuts like the edge of a samurai's blade.

Terrorhunter is a love letter to everything that is fun about dystopian science fiction, and fans of the genre will get a kick out of the familiar landscapes and cramped streets that have become hallmarks of the genre.

Gerry Duggan and Scott Koblish join forces yet again to bring the world The Giant Kokj. It's a series that's sure to deliver laughs, tears, nausea, questionable looks, mild discomfort, sleepless nights, and bouts of "What the hell did I just read?

Dying Star is a framed story, if the picture was removed from the frame, and sat in another room, and the frame was a living eight-dimensional entity that planted the tree that would one day drop a seed that would in turn grow into a forest that was cut down to make the paper that the picture was made from. All of this is happening, of course, while there are sword fights and spaceships. It's spellbinding and I loved every nanosecond of it from start to finish.

The Krmn Line is a timely and relevant read. It has sex, lies, secrets, and space presented in a raw, unfiltered reality show-like way that turns the cameras on human behavior and the way we use media, social or otherwise, to manipulate both the people who make it and the people who consume it. It's an out-of-this-world story that feels grounded in our current social dilemmas and shines bright in the comic landscape for being brave enough to tackle such uncomfortable but socially relevant issues.

The Oddly Pedestrian Life of Christopher Chaos #1 is like listening to a jam band just starting to find their groove. All the songs and musical ideas bleed into each other and you have no idea what you are listening to or what is coming next. You come away from the whole thing with a smile, enjoying the experience and looking forward to the next time that group of artists gets together so you can see what they cook up. This book feels exactly like that, if you could condense it, add some rad colors, and get it to adhere to the pages of a comic book.

The Oddly Pedestrian Life of Christopher Chaos shines in its ability to take you on an adventure in a world where you don't know the rules and still make you feel like you have been here for years and can't wait to hang out with your favorite lunch lady who may or may not be The Gill-man's aunty and also a super scientist who only works with lunchmeat and roly-poly bugs.

In all the ways that this feels like your favorite episodes of Stranger Things mashed up with a John Hughes movie, this is also a brilliantly told story of kids who have a lot more going on at home than you realize. The art is stellar, the jokes land perfectly, and the monster and gore blend so well into this weird coming-of-age story that will ring true to anyone who has ever felt like an outcast. Raise the Horns, turn it all the way up, and rock out with The Rock Gods of Jackson Tennessee!m/>.<m/

The Sacrificers is set in a weird world full of strange creatures with a wild setup that has unanswered questions piled high like mountains… but it's off to an absolutely fantastic start!

The Sacrificers continues to be weird in all the best ways, and between the stellar art and existential dialog, I hope this book is around for a while because this is the flavor of weirdness the world needs more of.

Writer Dan Watters and artist Sebastin Cabrol have crafted a tale that is not afraid to push boundaries and take readers on a thrilling journey into the unknown. With themes of horror and redemption woven throughout the story, The Seasons Have Teeth is a must-read series that will leave readers breathlessly craving more.

The Shadows of Thule is everything great about the Sword and Sorcery genre with rich and haunting lore, complex characters, and beautifully illustrated moments that stick with you long after you have turned the page. This is a modern classic that is sure to delight readers for ages to come.

When you think about the work and realize these horrible things have happened to actual people, it's hard to shake the mark Unaccompanied leaves on you. The fact this is happening in the world and these are but five stories of thousands upon thousands, while people with power spend their money shooting beer cans and stopping kids from being able to use a bathroom they feel comfortable in just makes the world feel so bleak and cold.

Under the Influence #1 feels timely and real in a way that it could be happening anywhere that people with a WiFi connection are doing things for views and those who don't quite get it are getting mad about it.

Where the tension and action of Under the Influence shines is in its carefully curated dialog. The whole book is full of layered conversations that feel as manufactured and polished as the biggest influencer's aspirational posts about coffee or pampas grass. I hate this book… and I love it.

Weapons of the Metabarons is a prime example of everything that makes The Incal Universe a brilliant landscape of multidimensional weird fiction storytelling. The creative trip of Jodorowsky, Janjetov, and Charest weaves a story that transcends all eight dimensions and leaves you excited to have experienced the ride.
