X-Men: Gold #16

We didn't get to see Ink or the uniforms as hinted on the cover but all good things come to those who wait. I am also much preferring the name Kologoth to that of Kleevus originally mentioned in pre solicit listings for issue #12. Bullet dodged there I feel. Speculation was rife on some news media sites as to it being the name of another alien from previous Fantastic Four stories or just an Ike Perlmutter pet name. It could also have been a derivation of the Albanian name Klevis. Whatever the reason, I for one am glad its gone. To quote Marc Guggenheim I just came up with a name I liked better. He aint wrong. This is an enjoyable issue to read, largely for the character dynamics and the art. Guggenheim wants to give us a Negative Zone arc for the next few issues. Hopefully it won't detract from the more earthbound stories. Read Full Review

Par for the course. Guggenheim want's to say something important but can't get it in there. Questionable character designs distract from how good the art is. The story may be an improvement over the dreck with Mojo, but that's a crazy low bar. Read Full Review

Great playing out of long term plotlines and the start of what I hope will be a great space X-Men story. I've recently caught up on this series and felt that it's had it's up's and down's but this issue was the sort of story I was hoping for from a Guggenheim X-book.

A spaceship comes to fetch Space Hitler Kologoth home, and if it hadn't landed on top of the Xavier Institute and then blasted off carrying Kitty and Kurt with it - unintentionally - this story could have ended in this issue. But it doesn't, more's the pity. Lan Medina's art is serviceable but forgettable, and Marc Guggenheim's script is, as usual for him, more of a promising rough draft than a finished comic story.
