We see Gabby trying really hard and hoping that this clone who's not a clone can turn out to be good and be a member of their little family. And she kicks ass trying to protect her family! Anyways, this issue turned out a lot better than I expected. I'm happy! I feel like there's a lot that can grow with it. The art was good, especially with the color scheme. Read Full Review

X-23 #8 picks up right where it left off last issue and it's a solid leap into the larger mystery of the arc. Read Full Review

Mariko Tamaki moves the overall story ahead a tiny bit, but lets us in on some secrets and continues killing it with Gabby and Laura. If you like them, you will like the book. If you arent sold on them (monster!), nothing here will convince you otherwise. Personally, I love them and while I hope Tamaki gives the series its own flavor going forward, I am here for Laura and Gabby. Read Full Review

A few nice character moments but not the most eventful issue. Still, theres no more appropriate story for Laura and Gabby so hopefully its setting up a good arc. Looking forward to the next issue. Read Full Review

My one gripe with Tamaki's run with X-23 is the speed of the issues. In some ways, it's nice to have a very quick read. And while X-23 has been great under Tamaki's control, there isn't a ton of depth. It doesn't make this series bad"I'd recommend it to anyone looking for something different, or it'd be one of the books I'd recommend to anyone who's just getting started with comics"but it limits how good the story can be.
