West Coast Avengers #2

So, I sort of liked West Coast Avengers #2. I'm mildly intrigued to read further…scratch all that, I'm full of shit. I'm in love with this comic, it delighted me to no end. Thompson writes with a razor sharp wit and Caselli, Farrell and Caramagna deliver visuals that are straight up awesome. If you didn't grab issue #1, do yourself a favour and rectify that. There are too many series that take themselves way too seriously, but I am really enjoying the embracing of teenage heroes and teenage fans and having some fun with comics again. This book should be on a shelf with Ms. Marvel and The Unbeatable Squirrel Girl, bringing some brightness into the LCS. Read Full Review

This is clearly a quieter comic than the max-volume introduction. The passionate engagement with the characters and the bottomless craziness of B.R.O.D.O.K. safely hold us miles away from boring, though. #2 expands the West Coast Avengers repertoire significantly and proves that much as we love land sharks, we can find plenty of compelling interest in this title without non-stop wackiness. The first issue showed a lot of promise, and was a pretty strong showing. This issue keeps up that steam, and, if Kelly Thompson doesn't have a great plot already thought out, she's fantastic at winging it. If you're into lighthearted fare and want some more Hawkeyes in your life, or want some escape from the Infinity Wars going on, this is easily the best comic on the market for you. Read Full Review

If you want to know how is the best reading on the week. Don't go further. There he is. A perfect fun book, and I had my doubt with the roster. But Thompson do great. Her joke hit right (Aim right ^^ ) I love the Quentin/Pool situation. I enjoy this reading so much it's not possible telling you without spoiling. Go bought it right now, you will not regret that. Cover - Three month ago I was "My oh my ! What do they do ... This will suck so bad". But this is a fine art & in relation 2/2 Writing - 6 Month ago I was "No way I will read this cast, they suck !" ... But damn they are looser & the right kind of looser & heroes. Love it. So fun, so well righten ... LOOOVVE IT ! (Is that clear enough ?) 3/3 Arts - Ok the art sometime could be better. Some panel have a lake of background. But it's nice & funny, and really good. The layout made sens & I don't have anything to report against them ! 3/3 Feeling - Did I tell you I enjoy it ? Did I tell you to go brought it if you didn't already do it ? So what do you do still there reading me ??? This issue is a must read, not my poor review ! 2/2 more

West Coast Avengers manages to capture what I was hoping for with the Great Lakes Avengers series. I wanted a team that is capable but struggles due to the relationships between the characters. Thompson manages to provide a heart to heart moment between Kate and Clint, A love-hate relationship between Quentin and Gwen, and an infiltration all in one issue. That doesn't even take into account America's frustrations and the reality show element. This series managed to take a concept and team roster I was apprehensive about and make it one of my favorite fun titles to read. The art is very fitting and looks good. There are times where I questioned if the cells were really capturing what the story was trying to display, but that is just nitpic king. If you are looking for a fun series that just makes you smile, look no further. It is still early but so far this series is looking strong. more

The West Coast Avengers start unraveling the mystery that is BRODOK. This issue's first scene is a useful touchstone for the whole series: BRODOK displays a sinister, plot-relevant ability to kaiju-whisper Giant-Size Tigra, but the story focuses on the WCAs attempting to out-snark each other with their situational hot takes. This is a superhero sitcom first and foremost. It's a pretty dang good one, but I don't know how long it can last. Every reader who sticks with it will, over time, spot more and more ideas that they feel this series chucks under the bus (unfairly) in the name of comedy. Personal case in point: I'm pretty sad that this issue ignored Gwenpool's significant personal history with MODOK. Still, WCA is fun, funny, and lov able right now. If it maintains its slightly manic pace, it may stay ahead of the creeping disappointment for quite a while. It's also beautifully illustrated, particularly when it comes to sassy characters. This series is already a goldmine for folks who want good Kate Bishop profile/reaction pics. more

This issue wasn’t as good as the first but the humor is still the same even though this comic was all over the place. But first I love how the team has the camera crew following them because it makes for some good laughs, kind of like Modern Family. Also I was crying of laughter when Gwenpool and Quentin kissed. Anyways the BRODOK stuff is basically meant for laughs and I just can’t find him funny.

I like it, but I am also disappointed in it and cringe at it. It is funny that they are documenting everything, because it feels like a trashy reality TV show like Jersey Shore.

Most of the humor so far fell flat for me, but the premisse is okay, and i like the characters and specially the art.
