(Cover Date: March, 1988) Summary: The team is captured by a new alien race, the Sligs, who intend to invade Earth. They are sent one at a time to fight the aliens' Examiner robot to assess their powers & abilities. After the robot is destroyed & reassembled each time with new abilities, the power drain finally causes the alien ship to explode. Their last message to the home world is interpreted as the Earth is protected by warriors looking like the composite Avenger shown on the cover, & the invasion is called off. Comments: This was an inventory story, as noted by Mark Gruenwald on the letters page.
