This final issue perfectly caps off a fantastic series that finely balances, action, and intrigue with genuine emotional growth for Natasha as a character. Superbly written, drawn, colored and lettered, it deserves its place alongside the best Black Widow stories ever told. I highly recommend it! Read Full Review

Without giving too much away, every little detail laid in the past four issues is wrapped up nice and tight almost to a point where it's too predictable. Read Full Review

You Don't Read Comics - Russ Bickerstaff

The year begins with the ending of another Black Widow mini-series. Housers story is an interesting contrast to the Soska sisters mini-series, which ran earlier-on in 2019. Theirs was a more populous series that lived in action. Housers work has been an altogether more shadowy journey. The two series show a bit of versatility in a character who still holds a great deal of appeal as she makes her leap to the big screen in a solo film later-on this year.  Read Full Review

The Web of Black Widow #5 ends the latest adventure that Natasha Romanoff went on in a satisfying way. Jody Houser showed a strong understanding of who Natasha was during her time in the Red Room and who she has become as the superhero known as Black Widow. If you are looking to learn more about Natasha Romanoff's character in anticipation for the upcoming Black Widow movie I recommend checking out The Web of Black Widow when it comes out as a trade paperback. Natasha is finally fixed after Secret Empire! It only took two years, which is almost nothing in comics! But yeah, this was a good wrap up issue. Definitely better than I expected it to be. Overall though, this miniseries was lackluster.

I didn't find this super satisfying, possibly because I've taken too long to read it and forgotten some of the plot?

The finale explains a lot of the storytelling problems this series suffered in earlier issues. But to me, it doesn't excuse them. And the art still has a knack for rubbing me the wrong way. Despite all the lovely anatomical detail, a lot of the poses and blocking look stiff to me.
