Gillen's hit his stride quite well in "Uncanny X-Men," and with the book about to end and get split in two, I'm glad that he's still in charge of one of them. After two issues of disappointment, I'm officially back on the bandwagon. I would have liked to have seen some interesting developments involving Mayor Sinclair, but, even without them, this issue forecasts a strong close to the arc. Read Full Review

I can really sum this up as a great issue, and it was set up amazingly in previous books. It's building up to something big, and with Fear Itself winding down, I look forward to see the X-Men's conflict tie up, as well. This has genuinely been one of the most entertaining tie-ins I've seen to the crossover. It would receieve a rare five stars from me if the art weren't a little tiring to look at. Buy it anyway. Not great, but a pretty good issue showing that Gillen is a font of ideas about creative ways to use the X-Men's powers. That bodes well for the future! Greg Land does a pretty nice job, but screws it up by giving all the women the same face (again). Read Full Review

Overall, Gillen continues to get the X-Men right thematically, and portrays the team dynamic that is so integral to good X-Men stories excellently. Hes doing the best he can with the stock summer crossover fare hes been ordered to integrate into Uncanny X-Men, which he actually does a pretty good job with, considering the rather obvious subject matter. So, overall, the plotting is at least interesting, there's plenty going on and there's lots of showing off of mutants and their powers, but the art from Land is occasionally interesting but mostly aggravating, and its the reason for the points knocked off the rating below. Read Full Review
