Uncanny X-Men #504

A stylish, well-written book all around, Uncanny X-Men #504 is easily the best issue of the series in quite some time. While I wish it had a little bit more meat to it, I can't complain too much about something so thoroughly entertaining. Read Full Review

I don't know. Maybe I'm just being nitpicky with one of my favorite authors here, but this book feels slightly skewed. It doesn't help that Brubaker's run was all over the map, as there seems to be a certain level of residual disconnect left over here. But even with that said, now that Fraction has free and complete reign, I remain somewhat confident that he can finally steer this title into a more discernable direction. Read Full Review

One final item of note, Wolverine doesn't appear at all in this issue. Not a bit. Rather unheard of for a comic in the X-Men corner of the Marvel Universe, wouldn't you say? For that, however, I think this issue is stronger in that other characters are reminded of how bright the spotlight is. Read Full Review

Uncanny X-Men #504 is probably the best issue that we have gotten since issue #500. However, this still is a pedestrian read. Fraction's writing continues to have serious defects at the most basic levels that should not be present in a story from a profession comic book writer working for a company like Marvel.
