The Pulse #2

The idea that the cliffhanger that the previous issue offered up wasn't important was a bit off-putting, and this issue doesn't really make the murder victim into an interesting character so this issue was a bit of a let down on that side of the equation. However the identity of her killer is a very exciting idea, and I'm eagerly looking forward to the climax of this opening arc where presumably Ben Urich and Jessica Jones come to realize who the villain is, and I'm curious to see what they do with this insight. I'm also curious to discover what was the secret that this villain was willing to kill to protect, as instead of deflecting the question or sending her after a false lead, our villain decides to kill the woman outright, which is a seemingly uncharacteristic reckless move on his part. Still this issue would benefited from a couple moments that served to make Terri Kidder into a more engaging character, as we don't really get a look at the character away from her job. An interesting tale of a reporter who stumbles across a dangerous story serves to interrupt the main series after only one issue. Seeds for future developments in the series seem to have been sown, but considered on its lone merits the issue is as likely to provoke indifference as any real sense of excitement. With any luck, the storyline will fulfil its potential and blossom into a more interesting crime thriller, but having explained issue #1's mystery even more fully than expected it will be interesting to see where Bendis goes from here. Actually, that's just the flashback of that dead woman. No Jessica and the story is staying on the same place. But it was nice to read. Was kinda boring in the beginning, but this conclusion... Osborn is a creep. And because of Bagley he looks so ultimatish... Plus Spidey vs Vulture unnecessary scene was nice too. This artist is awesome.

Not very interesting until you get to the final few pages which are very interesting. It took me a while to realize that this issue occurred before the first one and I was quite shocked by the tie in to issue 1.

Spoilers... The Pulse #2 introduces to the dead woman found in the lake from the first issue, Terri Kidder. Assigned to an article "most powerful people in the city", she decides to do her piece on the avengers. Jonah shuts it down and almost fires her. On a date with a girlfriend she discovers that people have been missing from her job at Oscorp. She gets to do a quick interview with Norman on account of the article's subject and his ego, in which she bluntly asks about the missing people. Norman then chokes her to death and throws her in the lake. It was ok.
