This book is so good that I honestly don't think I can articulate just how good. Thor is a superb comic book in every respect and if you're not reading this series. The Mighty Thor #702 continues the War of Realms and The Death of the Mighty Thor with another enthralling installment. The walls are closing in around Asgardia, and Jane Foster and the Odinson may be the only ones keeping this from happening. Bottom Line: This issue was a sort of "calm before the storm" entry that resolved a couple of lingering plotlines. Aaron masterfully galvanizes the good guys for the coming threat, once again offering up some long teased payoff. I don't know how many times or how many ways I can say that Aaron has been writing a guaranteed knockout with this book for years now, but that's the kind of gem Marvel has on its hand. Mighty Thor #702 is all about setting up the story and while it doesn't feature too much action, the internal conflict and impending death is a interesting aspect that make me come back to find out more. Read Full Review

After an issue where everyting was about fighting and being punched in the face by a god killing entity, it's nice to have a backstory and a biggest presence from the actual Mighty Thor this time. The arm wrestling scene was brilliant and the way Jane deals with her illness will probably lead to a gut wrenching finale. Visually, it really stands out as one of the best looking comic in the past months from Marvel. The Mangog looked a bit goofy in the last issue in my opinion, but this time, he looks truly terrifying. The next issue sure will be loaded with action and the more grounded story from this month will only make it more enjoyable.

The Mighty Thor impresses the seriousness of the War of the Realms on us and rallies Hercules to her cause in a hilarious arm-wrestling match. The Odinson talks her into dropping the hammer long enough to take Jane's chemo, but just when we think she might be going quiet into the good night, bam, Jane calls out Odin. The ensuing argument comes with a triple serving of "but wait, there's more awesome!" It's passionate and eventful and thanks to Russell Dauterman it looks every bit as gorgeous as Asgardian soap opera should. The only thing holding this back from a 10/10 rating, really, is the certain knowledge that things are about to get even more epic.

I started reading Doctor Strange and this at the start of Legacy, because the concepts sounded interesting. Same as the other book, I have not been let down. A great read and next issue should be awesome.

I had actually just decided to give up on this title, because the war of realms has just been dragging on for too long, and there was less story of late, just a bunch of punching, but I wanted to give it one more shot, for Jane's sake. I'm glad I did. The Mighty Thor #702 is my favorite issue in over a year. I feel like the story just moved out of neutral and into gear, and we're going somewhere. Hopefully Jason and the team keep this up for the rest of "The Death of the Mighty Thor"!

Jane may have valid points and certainly undeserving of her malady but she does not come across as likable at this point. Maybe she needs to be all bravado against Odin but she treats Odinson and Herc poorly. Excellent art this ish.

With everything going on this chapter is a change in pace. We see the aftermath of Mangog's attack on Volstagg (while he was the War Thor) and the worry that brings the gods of thunder. The brothers tyrannical rule and refusal to acknowledge the war comes to a head and the people of Asgardia begin to side behind a new leader. There is very little action or "Thor" to this chapter of the story. What we do have is pretty great, including an arm wrestling contest between Thor and Hercules for the help of the Greeks in the War of Realms. Odinson and Jane have a discussion about what the power of Thor is doing to her. Jane once again confronts Odin. It is an issue where a lot happens. A lot of things are touched, but when putting it down I at fir st thought little had. The art looks really great. This is especially so in Jane. The colors used to make her look sickly in comparison to the gods made a very clear message as to how much she is struggling and how bad she is doing. There is a very layered look to the layouts of the pages that made the pages busy and complex in a way that mirrored the politics they spoke of in those pages. I think what we have is a team that truly loves the source material and the story they are telling. It makes everything work in a great way. more
