The Mighty Thor might have surpassed his own God of Thunder series as the best Thor book in the past ten years (Yes, I'm including the JMS run… fight me). Emotionally, this issue makes for a satisfying read, as Aaron digs even deeper to the theme of worthiness and shows how Jane's compassion intersects with Volstagg's boundless rage. If you dont love Jane Foster as Thor by now, you will after this. Seeing her at one point with TWO hammers made me squeal. But its her compassion and dedication to protecting her friends and innocents that makes me love her. She knows she is dying of Cancer but that thought is what is making her stronger (at one point she even screams it) when fighting. The small prelude to Malekeiths plans of destruction is making me impatient. He has been planning something since day 1 and Im just ready to see it! Read Full Review

The corruption of Volstagg comes to an end in a way that I loved. It showed just how different a Thor Jane has become from The Odinson. A Thor that thinks of more than of just physicality to defeat an enemy. There is a pretty strong message about the nature of wars and those involved. I am sure that will bother some. For me that is what these stories are for. They shine a light on the issues and make you think. Sometimes you will not agree and that is okay. At least we are thinking about it. There is also the theme that has been constant in the series, the corruption that comes with power. In this case it is a rage that comes from the Ultimate Mjolnir that is now being called the War Hammer. Since it is still out there under the protection of The Odinson that should be interesting. The art has some wonderful moments. I especially loved the war through the nine realms and a view of each. The story as well as those in the Generations/Legacy books seems to be coming to a culmination that I am getting excited for. I want to see Jane Foster continue as a hero because like others have said, she deserves it, but if that does not happen I think it will be okay. If that does not happen it would be sad to see, but it was a great ride to get there. Jane and Thor have become such interesting characters with stories that resemble the Walt Simonson era that really tried to tell great tales of not just Thor but Asgardians. more

If you would’ve told me that Thor would’ve become unworthy and a cancer ridden Jane Foster would’ve become the new Thor and stared in her own series, I would’ve said you were crazy. If you told me that I would be reading that series, I would’ve said you were even crazier. If you told me that I loved that series so much that I would be saying it’s the best Thor run since Walt, I would’ve said your the craziest person alive.

War Thor vs. Thor wraps up in a satisfying way that is almost but not quite as epic as Jason Aaron and Wizard Bloodroot think it is. Valerio Schiti puts in strong art but the script doesn't quite reach epic territory. Jane gets to be empathic, and Roz Solomon and the Odinson get a nice look-in as well.

Solid artwork and layouts by Valerio Schiti, however the War Thor storyline couldn't have ended sooner. It's not that it was necessarily bad, it just hasn't served any purpose in progressing the storyline. Of course, part of this may just be Jason Aaron trying to fill some time until Legacy begins with the Death of Thor story arc in issue #700. I don't have a problem with that, but it doesn't make this particular issue any better.
