Tales of Suspense #104 brings a confused and confusing yet still quite enjoyable conclusion to the story. Bucky, Clint, and Natasha all reach something of a character resolution and have great action scenes on the way to doing so. Foreman and Rosenberg kill it on the visuals. This one went out with a whimper in my opinion, but I'm curious to see what the future holds. The ending sets up a follow up with I'm assuming the same heroes, but I'm sure focusing on Natasha and Bucky. I'd say I'm happy to read it and continue the story, however, I'm feeling very apathetic. Great ending. Rosenberg writes a great 3 team tango where all play their roles well. Foreman has gotten better in the last 2 issues and his art is well complimented by Rosenberg's colors. But this should've been 3-4 issues tops.

Welcome to the Oblivion Bar where the first round is on me and the pretzels are free! Be warned: like the pickled eggs at the bar, this issue is going to get SPOILED rotten. We open with Bucky and Clint trapped by Natasha and Bucky without an arm. Natasha uses the arm to show the Red Room that she killed them and reaffirm their trust in her. After they escape, Clint and Bucky find out that Natasha really isn’t bad and actually has a safe house with Boom-Boom and Ursa Major. Can I just say that I totally need to know more about Ursa Major? The way the character is written by Rosenberg is interesting and hilarious. If your reading this Rosenberg, I would love an ongoing with at least Clint and Ursa Major. I think that would be amazi ng! As men do, and I know being one, we ruin everything. Natasha had her plan all lined up but of course Clint and Bucky ruin it by storming the Red Room and blowing Natasha’s cover. And Natasha literally goes HAM on everyone killing them all! Guys, his issue had everything from talking bears, ballerinas kicking Hawkeye in the nards, David lynch references, to Natasha literally killing copies of herself, Bucky taking a machine gun to every last clone, and the talking bear mauling the bad guys with ballerinas as it’s sidekicks. This issue was NUTS! We end with Natasha basically explaining to the boys that she did all of this to shut the cloning down and end this once and for all. However, we find out that she is totally different. She has her memories from before but she explains that death changes a person, especially your own. Who could blame her? The Red Room blows up and the the last two pages are still amazing until the end. Police are questioning Clint and Bucky by basically trying to figure out what happened realizing how insane this situation is from talking bears and ballerinas, to seeing two people that were dead but now alive, to dozens of roasted Russians, and we see that Natasha snuck off leaving letters more

for the boys. Clint’s letter basically says thank you for your help but Bucky’s letter wants him to come help her without telling Clint. I felt bad for Clint there. You can tell how much he still cares for Natasha and what he was willing to go through for her but the love is just not reciprocated. That just sucks for Clint! Sorry buddy.

Our Red Ledger tale final comes to an end. And let me tell you, this arc has been a pleasant surprise. Every step of the way, I have loved the interaction between the Winter Soldier and Hawkeye. The witty banter back and forth with Clint and Bucky is fantastic while the reader also gets to see the true suspense and mystery as to what was going on with Natasha this entire time.

Rosenberg did a phenomenal job bringing back a character people love but still making her death meaningful. If your just hopping on now at the end, grab the trade. You won’t be disappointed. You truly don’t want to miss this arc.

An ok ending to an otherwise pretty decent story. The art was really good and the story was good, but just didnt stick the landing the best.

Natasha tears the New Red Room apart and the lads bumble into the last act to sort of help. Was it all part of her master plan, or did she have to improvise? This story concludes with ambiguity, but it doesn't feel fully intentional - more "We can't be arsed to settle the full meaning" than "we want to leave it up to the reader." The art is impressively ambitious, but it feels compressed. I'd love to see these panels expanded and given more space - this feels like a standard comic's worth of script but 1.5-2 comics' worth of art.
