SUPERIOR FOES OF SPIDER-MAN #11 offers a nice set of visuals and ends on a strong note, but aside from featuring non-A-list villains, it doesn't really feel like another chapter of the book. The overflowing creative humor and feeling of originality just doesn't have a strong enough presence in this one. It's an amusing character study of a villain's mentality, but when all is said and done, you probably won't be able to shake the feeling this is ultimately a filler issue that just doesn't pack the same kind of brilliant punch as Nick Spencer and Lieber's issues. To say that "Superior Foes of Spider-Man" #11 is a disappointment would be a gross overstatement, but the quality of this issue relative to the series takes a dip while the cost took a hike. This is, quite simply, a decent fill-in issue, but ultimately forgettable, just as Grizzly and Looter were largely forgotten prior to their appearance here. That's not to say that fill-in issues with not-so-superior foes taking a spin in the spotlight couldn't work, it's just a lot to overcome at one time. Had the price increase come with the standard team of Spencer and Lieber in place and the usual roster of miscreants between the covers, it might not have been as troublesome. Let's put it this way, these stories would probably make decent back-ups for the regular creative team, further exploring the concepts of the main title and providing a showcase for some fun old characters, but I'm not sure that everyone would want to pay an extra dollar for one of these. If that's the case, who's jumping to buy two of them for more than we pay for the amazing series we're used to? Read Full Review

Wasn't expecting another filler issue rightaway... This one was pretty idiotic, but had fine moments. However, this issue isn't even connected to the Sinister Six...

I get where the creators were going with this story, to show a different side of the Superior Spider Man. Is he really superior? More like flawed, he's not the web head you know and have grown to love over the decades. I thought it was an interesting take on the story, but not needed. This issue could never have existed and the reader would not have missed any continuing story plot. I think as we (hopefully) get closer to Parker's return, we are going to see more books like this one.
