Star Wars: Doctor Aphra #11

Star Wars: Doctor Aphra #11 is a fun read, but has little connection to the "War of the Bounty Hunters" crossover event. In my opinion, this issue is more of a "prelude" issue than "Star Wars: Doctor Aphra #10" was. Alyssa Wong does a nice job of giving us a story that basically could be read as a stand-alone story. The first half of the book largely sets up what the upcoming adventures will be for the series, as well as how its stars will factor into the overall "War of the Bounty Hunters" arc, though the involvement of Durge is sure to excite fans of the character from his involvement in the Star Wars: Clone Wars series. Aphra has a direction and a new goal set by her current boss to explore the Crimson Dawn auction of the trapped Han Solo. Lust Lucky is also headed there as well. It is likely that the two groups paths will cross sooner than later as they head toward the hive of some of the worst criminals in the galaxy. Aphra is sure to fit in well. Read Full Review

I won't spoilt too much of the story becaue it's a pretty solid story, but it does finally start leading into War of the Bounty Hunters at the very end, as expected. There is something in this issue I've seen people complain about, and it's that Durge seemingly exists the story very abruptly. I don't think that's really a fair complaint, since it's pretty obvious he'll be back eventually (he even jokes about that in the issue), but I get it. Other than that the issue is extremely solid, the art is amazing as usual (this art team is quickly becoming one of my favorite art teams on Aphra, second maybe to the team with Emilio Laiso in the first run.. and even then Rosenberg was on that art team too!) Not to big a fan of Durge. Reminds me of medieval Spawn or something. Kinda feels out of place for me.
