Star Wars #32

Though I've kind of see-sawed on this storyline depending on what's going on in this particular moment, this issue does a lot of fun things and keeps it moving. The Queen is still too much of an enigma and it lacks a certain weight in terms of story for why all of this matters, though hopefully the Rur aspect will factor in better once we get past this storyline itself. I like what we get out of pretty much all of the cast across the board, though once again I have to single out the droids for being so delicious, particularly with Triple-Zero calling Beetee a Death Star on wheels. Star Wars #32 does a wonderful job of setting up the final part of this amazing crossover, as despite not being quite as epic as I was hoping for, it was captivating nonetheless. The various developments throughout this penultimate chapter also leave us plenty to look forward to heading into Doctor Aphra #8, with the final page sure to excite. Read Full Review

This whole story doesn't make any sense and it feels like they are making a huge effort to find adventures for the Star Wars characters between the New Hope and the Empire Strikes Back narratives. But they are such good characters to have around, and I have such a great time reading the series that it kinds of make me forget of everything else.

I'm saying the comic takes its characters in consideration and that it knows how to apply what they have to offer in a really entertaining way. So entertaining, in fact, that even though it doesn't find its way into the major narrative it's still worth reading.

Doctor Aphra and her murder droids are the two best characters in this comic. Which is fine by me. I still find myself a little disappointed with the artwork on the faces. Otherwise everything is good. I haven't enjoyed this crossover nearly as much as Vader Down but I'm still interested to see how it ends.

The "Vader Down" crossover was really good, as was the "Screaming Citadel" one-shot, but this crossover has kind of fizzled out, in my eyes. This issue was okay, but I think I would have preferred this to be a Luke/Aphra solo team up story, without dragging in the supporting casts. I think the underlying problem is that Jason Aaron's "Star Wars" hasn't been consistently good in a very long time, leaving me to think he's running in place regarding interesting things to do with this property.
