I was wondering how Spider-Gwen was going to fit into things and the fact that the dimension-hopping angle is the key element in here is a surprise I didn't see coming. I'm wondering if Miles is going to remember who Spider-Gwen is from their previous crossover about a year or two go or if this is to be their very first encounter. Spider-Man #12 is a victim of the choice in its story structure by its writer severely hurting any momentum created by the hype leading up to a crossover. Brian Bendis does very little to create further excitement of this crossover between Spider-Man and Spider-Gwen passed the promoted hook of Miles Morales and Gwen Stacy's kiss. The only saving grace is the fantastic artwork by Sara Pichelli, who continues to be one of Marvel's biggest stars. Hopefully the next chapter in this crossover taking place in the pages of Spider-Gwen, a series I'm a huge fan of, is able to create interest in the crossover. Read Full Review

This volume of Amazing Spider-Man seems so unfocused and adding Spider-Gwen to the mix makes this comic meander towards nothing-ness in a lacking, uninspired manner. Read Full Review

After seeing so much melancholy in the Spider-Man title lately it was good to see things shift to a lighter tone. Miles is more playful even though there are serious stakes with him searching for his missing father. There is only a brief interaction between Gwen and Miles, but we are given enough to sense a relationship worth exploring. The only thing we do not see is if there is one central villain for the crossover. There of course is still time since we do not know why Miles father has disappeared. There are some great colors and detail to the art. This should be one of the better crossovers.

This was a good issue, so welcome after this title was sucked into the black hole that was "Civil War II" for so long. The opening pages definitely hooked me, and I am interested to see Miles and Gwen interact.
