    Comicsverse - Chris Galvin

SPIDER-MAN is on my pull listand will continue to be because it has been an enjoyable, fun, inspiring read. The interruptions put upon the series due to events are frustrating; its plot is at a standstill as it crosses over with another event. These actions can become dangerous because this issue is not as accessible to ongoing readers of SPIDER-MAN, so it could alienate newer readers, and this, in turn, can lead to people just not picking up (or dropping) the book. While still readable and entertaining, SPIDER-MAN #9 should have spent more time on its own plot without having to bow down to the latest event. Read Full Review

We The Nerdy - John Patterson

    Nov 18, 2016

Overall Spider-Man #9 is enjoyable. It lets the friends and family of Spider-Man shine rather than Spider-man himself. It shows you the amount of love and support he gets from his family and that he's got a strong group surrounding him, whether they have powers or not. Some elements felt out of place and the book expects you to have read the main Civil War II storyline which could be frustrating to those who are not reading Civil War II or are holding off for the trade. But, again, overall it's a nice little addition to the Civil War sequel. Read Full Review

Let's be clear on one thing: if you are suffering from Civil War II fatigue, this issue of Spider-Man will do absolutely nothing to alleviate that. Read Full Review

    Weird Science - Eric Shea

This issue of Spider-Man was really lacking our title character.  Yeah, there were some fun moments to be had in just featuring the supporting characters to this book, but overall it was kind of boring and the only real reason to pick this up would be if you were a huge fan of the art because that at least kicked ass all the way through. And speaking of the script, it's not bad at all. You can almost always count on Bendis knocking it out of the park when it comes to dialogue. This issue is no exception. In fact, Spider-Man #9 will probably make a great middle chapter its collected volume. As a single issue, however, it's a bit of a letdown. Read Full Review

Where is Spider-Man? What should be a tension-building prelude sadly reads as a series of aimless conversations. The art is beautiful, though. Read Full Review

I liked to see Miles friends concern for him and doing what they could to find him and keep him safe, but there is not a lot to this issue. It bridges some gaps between the story in Civil War which is good. It also gives you a little more background on the supporting characters. There is still some great looking art. So overall a pretty good issue, just one that might be forgotten easily.

That was okay-ish. But why is Venom on the cover when he doesn't even appear in the issue?

Some standard Bendis dialogue and overdue characterizing facetime for the supporting cast but other wise a very empty issue with a darned mandatory crossover in the cloying current Event. Plus, the disgusting pointless and misleading cover did not help any.

Poor Nico Leon, having to waste his awesome art on this nothing story. Civil War II has destroyed this series. Total filler. And the cover is a sham. Where's Venom? Where's Spider-Man for that matter? What a waste of time.
