Focusing on the early days of Captain America's regime, the new spotlight on the Inhuman, Inferno, gives this story a powerful character arc to follow. While the rest of the characterization does falter, the art and compelling plot make this a must-read for any SECRET EMPIRE or INHUMANS fans. Read Full Review

But overall, Secret Warriors is a complete package. Rosenberg’s writing is witty and fun while never losing sight of the stakes of the plot. Garron’s art helps the jokes and characterization in the script land while also providing strong visual storytelling. This iteration of the team has a lot in common with another group of misfits that came together in the wake of an event: Dan Abnett and Andy Lanning’s Guardians of the Galaxy. There’s a sense that this squad has everything on the line, and they’re going to stop at nothing to complete their mission, even if it means they’ll die trying. Secret Empire might not be for everyone, but Secret Warriors might just be the reason is was all worth it. Read Full Review

Javier Garron did a wonderful job with the artwork of this book. I liked the was all the characters looked including the guest stars. His pictures were subtle and not over the top, his display of Inferno's power was great. So far all the artist Marvel has involved with this Secret Empire Hydra takeover story arc have been phenomenal. The comic artists nowadays are so talented and it seems like the talent pool in the industry is endless. Read Full Review

This is a tie-in done right. I haven't read the core Secret Empire at all yet, but I jumped right in with this story and loved it. It doesn't feel like a big "you have to read these other ten issues to get it" tie in. It's a self-contained and fun story, and really establishes this book's mission statement. Absolutely a must-read. Read Full Review

It's good, if a bit uninspired, but totally out of place. "Secret Empire" probably didn't need a "Hogan's Heroes." Read Full Review

Marvel really shouldn't have dusted off the "Secret Warriors" name for this book, because it only invites certain expectations regrading tone, subject matter and, honestly, quality that it just can't deliver. Read Full Review

This issue does help build the world of Secret Empire as it gives us a ground level view of the way of the world. That along with Matthew Rosenberg's strong wit and Javier Garron's quality art make it worth reading, but I cannot help but feel worry this series will get bogged down by this tiresome Inhumans agenda. Great dialogue, great art, fast pace, and a plot that is not hindered by the crossover event.

Great pace and pure fun dialogue between all characters. Garron' art is a great fit here and adds many more layers to the fun story. I love this book!

Art's great, rosenberg's great, none of the characters seem out of place and are all done well (love Karnak and lunella). For a secret empire tie-in it is fun and does not require reading the main event

A superb cross-country road trip is livened up with a little fight against the Howling Commandos. This title offers an incredibly fun core story and developing it further is challenging the creators to push outside their comfort zones. The pushes aren't entirely successful - writer Matthew Rosenberg is struggling with the flashback pacing and the busy layouts with tiny figures are shortchanging artist Javier Garrón a little - but the creators are hitting way more shots than they're missing and even the missteps are entertaining. I could nitpick endlessly, but the very engagement that would inspire me to do so signifies a gigantic success: In two issues I have become *deeply* invested in this team and what they're doing next.

Ummmm I don't understand the need for the back and forth. I guess it's a contrast of then and now but still it was an odd combo. The art of Garon and Silva is actually really good and I love what they did to differentiate the past to the present but it was kind of just a meh issue.
