RAVENCROFT REOPENED!
After the hellish horrors of ABSOLUTE CARNAGE, the Ravencroft Institute has received a much-needed facelift and is open for business with a new staff, including JOHN JAMESON, looking to atone for the part he played in ABSOLUTE CARNAGE. But will Ravencroft return the mentally unstable villains of the Marvel Universe to upstanding citizens and give John the redemption he's looking for, or will they fall prey to the hospital's seemingly sinister nature?

    Horror DNA - James Ferguson

There's a big reveal at the end of this issue that really ups the level of terror in Ravencroft. I was already on board with this series, but that closing page solidified my feelings for this title. I love how letterer Joe Sabino drops the captions here, juxtaposing Knight's thoughts with the actions of the scene for the most impact. There's a tremendous amount of potential here. Of course, that potential is full of evil and horror, but that's the best kind, right? Read Full Review

Angel Unzueta brings the story to life with some great art that focuses on the darkness of the facility and its inhabitants. There are some great shots throughout that make you look in the corners of panels to catch something you might have missed. Read Full Review

    AIPT - David Brooke

I'm curious to see what Tieri and Unzueta do with this book, although I'm a bit hesitant in calling it a must-read at this point. Considering the rich history we've been shown in the previous one-shot stories, this issue is about as cold as the floors of Ravencroft itself. A good enough setup issue, but I'm waiting to see when the real conflict and action kicks into gear. Read Full Review

This series hasn’t taken off running like I expected following the one-shots. There are still a number of mysteries to be solved, with no sign of resolution yet, I only hope they start providing answers soon to hold our interest. Read Full Review

Mark my reaction to "Dark Reign 1.5" down as a thorough "meh." There are promising pieces on the board (though familiar ones), but little of note is being done with them so far. Some of the art is notably good, but an equal amount is flawed.

This was fine. I'm interested in the ideas and concepts that this series has going, but the execution isn't the best.

I mean, it wasn't hard to follow, but I'm not exactly champing at the bit for more. Except that I really want to know where that dude's intestines ended up.
