Punisher #4

Start to finish, The Punisher #4 is a non-stop action ride. We learn more of Agent Ortiz, meet an interesting new character, and manage to stay full speed on the action the whole time. I could use a reprieve to balance out the chaos and expect issues #5 or #6 to offer a moment of calm before the next storm, and if so, I hope the action is in the form of fiery dialogue as we get to know Agent Ortiz, her temper, and just how far she might be willing to go to rescue a friend. And I hope Juniper sticks around, too. It's a dangerous world for that kid to be in, but hey, so far she's the only source of comic relief. She's very much welcome in this series. Read Full Review

Jake G Thomas (editor) really joined an amazing creative team for this book, let's hope it continues forever. It's been great ride and so much fun that i haven't felt in a Punisher comic for some time now. Read Full Review

This issue is a step up from last issue, but still feels padded out.  I'd say it's setup heavy, but it doesn't really set up much.  My biggest complaint is the almost complete lack of anything interesting for Frank Castle to do, let alone the Punisher.  Hopefully that changes soon because I am getting very impatient waiting for something to happen. The story is not really developing much, but there is lots of action and I mostly enjoy the art - it is a small gripe but I dont like the way Franks hair is drawn.

The biggest flaw in Dillon's art is starting to show -- you can only tell Face and Frank apart based on the color of the skin. If it wasnt because I'm actually seeing Frank on this comic, I'd have thought Face was the Punisher from that 3-parter where he became a black man and teamed up with Luke Cage.

Action, and lots of it. This issue is about what anyone would expect to get out of a Punisher comic. The little girl is excessively naive and weird, I can't tell if she's supposed to have some sort of developmental delay or what the writer is going for, but it would have added drama if she was actually scared instead of blissfully catatonic. Steve Dillon is great with the action sequences, but as other reviewers have pointed out, his faces all look the same and rather lifeless. If he could overcome this, it would elevate his style to the next level.
