Nov 20, 2024The artwork is simply stunning! Throughout Phoenix #5, each panel feels larger than life. The artwork of the Phoenix run has been beautiful but I would say this issue is the best of the run so far. Without giving too much away, the first few pages are feasts for the eyes. Once you pick up the comic and start reading you'll see why I say that. Another home run for the artists! Read Full Review

Nov 20, 2024Phoenix #5 continues to solidify its place as one of the best X-Men books on the stands, putting Jean Grey in a new position and giving her new threats to face. It's no easy task to push a character forward, but Phillips and Miracolo are succeeding on every level. Read Full Review

It's exciting to finally see Jean's rich history continue to flourish. This time in a cosmic saga. The way that Claremont envisioned her journey as Phoenix to be. This series has been consistent with the storytelling and character development. I'm excited to see where it continues to take us. Seeing Jean explore her powers and the cosmos all by herself has been refreshing. I would love to see it be drawn by Russell Dauterman, R.B. Silva or Pepe Larraz. Please Marvel... make that happen.

"The character design is phenomenal." Each character looks completely original and full of personality. You can tell who they are at a glance.

Character Development That Stays With You Few comics dive as deeply into their characters as this one. Every hero, villain, and side character feels fully realized. You care about their choices, their pain, their victories. This is character-driven storytelling at its best.

The flow of the panels guides your eyes naturally, while still surprising you with clever panel placements and inventive transitions. It's visually engaging without ever feeling cluttered.

Whoa, the cover for this issue? It's a work of art! It's not just a pretty picture; it captures the mood of the issue perfectly. Every little detail from the composition to the color scheme teases what's to come without giving too much away.

This rocked. Definitely my favorite issue of the series yet. The art just felt better this time around, which could possibly be made so with the addition of Renna to the art duties, but I don't know for sure. Furthermore, the story was just stronger than its been in the past, in my opinion. I loved how powerful Jean was portrayed to be here, particularly. The stuff at the beginning and the ending to her fight with Gorr were both just so good. The introduction of Thanos has me even more hopeful, as well, as I'm super interested to see the two of them go against each other. I need more issues like this one, please.
