I’m glad that I gave this book another chance. Chip Zdarsky knows what he’s doing with this story and has shown great diversity in his strength. Between this and Marvel Two-in-One, he’s quickly becoming one of my favorite current writers at Marvel. It helps that he has such a talented team of artists to realize the script. If you haven’t already checked out this series, go back and pick up the last issue and get caught up with this one, too. It feels good to enjoy a Spider-Man book like this again. Read Full Review

Quinones should've been on art duty from the get go. Zdarsky's Spidey story is amplified with that pretty fantastic art!!

Wow! For a while I thought this series was meandering, but this last arc has really won me over--it's a perfect meeting between teenage Peter Parker and current Peter Parker. The way that Zdarsky is handling the story here is fantastic--full of suspense, moving the story forward, creating shocking and powerful moments. The final few pages of this issue, the last confrontation, held me breathless. And Joe Quinones art is just perfect for all this--he's such a great fit for this book. This is a really fucking great comic!

Well, last issue had an atrocious exposition of presenting our hero in the past and not an alt-past; but now that their temporal presence was set up this was a good read in itself. And clearly establishes that this is, in fact, an alt-past because of the dramatic changes that happen unlike the real 616 past. It is a little self-serving if it turns out that this arc was only to direct Teresa to evidence that she really is Peter's sister afterall and it's a bit decompressive that none of the 3 or Nick Fury could scare up any appearance of the Tinkerer yet.

Norman Osborn drives the plot forward, and his actions dig up rich veins of dramatic irony. This alternate past is in deep trouble, and it's all the fault of our time-traveling heroes. The progression of the story is plenty of fun and it's still charming, but the big dramatic developments for Teresa didn't quite work for me. I've never had that Fall-In-Love Moment with her as a character; I wonder if any reader has.
