This is turning out to be a solid Spidey book after all. Zdarsky has a handle on both Peter Parker and his wall-crawler alter-ego. Spectacular Spider-Man enters Marvel Legacy with an exciting story putting Pete in a really rough spot, but he has his new BFF, JJJ. Their relationship is the core right now, and I wouldn't have it any other way. Read Full Review

There are some occasionally terrific images, including Spider-Man's Batman-like moment and the final panel in the book. However, it still feels like this book hasn't found the right artist to capture the tone of the story. Read Full Review

I had a lot of fun with "Peter Parker, the Spectacular Spider-Man" #7. I really enjoyed the action scene with Pete under assault without any spider toys to help him. I haven't been wowed by Kubert's art so far in this series, but he kills it in this sequence. I didn't like the first arc much at all, but the last two issues are moving this series into a zone I like...important events are happening in this book (unveiling identity to JJJ last ish), and it is offering a closer look at Parker's life. I have restored faith in this series...

This book has got a lot more interesting after the last issue and it's really starting to grow on me despite the slow start. This has been a long arc (pretty much since issue #1) and I hope it pays off with a good ending. The art has been consistent and I like the J. Jonah dynamic now that the secret's out.

Peter negotiates an nicely-scripted "escape challenge" plot that brings him face to face with Agent Mintz, a potential big bad for this whole Grey Blade arc. The art has a constrained layout (count dem six-panel pages) to match the theme, but a lot of the work in the panels is rough, particularly the shadows. Jameson's role evolves in exciting ways, and Chip Zdarsky does a fair job of getting serious.

Nothing special. How many times has Spidey had to deal with a perceived inconveniencing handicap before? He seemed a bit out of sorts. Granted JJJ seems to be getting a new -in unconvincing- sidekick direction.

Felt like half an issue more than a full one and not one of the best jumping on points for Legacy. As someone who hasn't been following PPSSN it doesn't give me enough to get me back next month.
