Issue #3 gains serious momentum as unexpected events unfold that provide clarity to the purpose of the mixed roster as well as a hint toward Karma's enigmatic and seemingly nefarious intent behind the team's reformation which not only provides some much-needed connection for the reader, but also confirms that the overall 5 issue series is interwoven into a greater plot yet to be revealed. If you are an X-Men fan, New Mutant fan, or just a comedic horror fan this book is definitely one you should check out. It's a solid engaging read that takes you on a fun ride with some lesser known mutants, but Matthew Rosenberg makes you feel like they are all A-list mutants. Read Full Review

NEW MUTANTS: DEAD SOULS #3 takes exciting steps in the right direction with its newfound focus on the characters and the team dynamic. This is a crew that can barely function as a unit, and that is finally brought to the forefront in this issue. However, whether due to unclear information or simply a lack of knowledge on my part, the plot of this story felt much more clunky than previous issues in the series. Read Full Review

New Mutants: Dead Souls #3 is another solid entry into this mini-series. We are officially halfway through and we have been introduced to our main “bad guy” of this series. Our heroes have had a tough time getting along and after the events of this mission, they may never come back together again. That is if they survive. Look, I am not going to tell you this is the greatest comic book ever, but I look forward to reading it every timeit comes out. It has a fun story that balances comedy, drama, and action well. I love the paranormal aspect and the team interactions. This all comes together to make New Mutants: Dead Souls one of my favorite books. Read Full Review

This issue is a runaway train that goes heavy on the comedy in the runup to a cards-on-the-table confrontation with the team's antagonist. The breathless pace works flawlessly and this issue bursts with 2-3 comics' worth of top-quality sass. The art continues to run hot and cold. When it's successful it's amazing; when it fails it fails HARD. Though this series is struggling to find a consistent tone, the highs are brilliant enough to excuse the lows.
