Ms. Marvel: The New Mutant #2 is a great sophomore chapter for this series. The creative team really understands this character in a way that elevates the Fall of X storyline in a thoughtful manner, while also allowing Kamala to be kick-ass in her own right. Read Full Review

Ms. Marvel: The New Mutant #2 is a mediation on dreams, both for the titular heroine as well as the creators. After the bombastic opening that was the first issue, it's fine that the story has slowed down a bit. But now that we've hit the halfway point, I'm curious as to what these dreams entail and what they might mean for Kamala's future. Read Full Review

Yes, Ms. Marvel: The New Mutant #2 continues a rather controversial new status-quo for the character. But, the comic is actually good! It feels like a natural progression and Kamala struggles with this new reality like many readers are. The comic also takes what could easily be a rather downer of a comic and story and puts the usual Ms. Marvel spin on it with a dash of humor and hope. Overall, a pleasant surprise that captures the youthful and kinetically fun nature of the character. Read Full Review

I feel that this comic is stretching itself too thin (pun intended) when the core of a really enjoyable Kamala Khan comic is right there under our noses. Read Full Review

Ms. Marvel: The New Mutant #2 is where the cracks in the writing team's inexperience show. The creators are trying to blend a slice-of-life/YA comic with the Hellfire Gala fallout, but the tonal mix just doesn't work. You can't go from playing video games in a sleepover to an Orchis drone hunt and have the story make sense. Read Full Review

I continue to be thoroughly impressed with how fun this series has been. Iman Vellani and Sabir Pirzada are creating one of the best representations of Kamala Khan since G. Willow Wilson's first Ms. Marvel series. We witness how much humanity our new "Inhu-Mutant" (as Kamala puts it herself in this issue) brings to the Marvel Universe. She cares for people and is the voice of the underdog. Her struggle for acceptance and strive for justice makes her a perfect member for the X-Men, or at least what they originally stood for. Speaking of the X-Men, I'm loving her relationship with Emma Frost. Emma has had one of most complex Krakoan Age arcs and it's great to see her be a mentor again. My only complaint is that we still have yet to see what more

This is an exciting, intriguing story, and it looks gorgeous. It has an appealing and authentic take on Ms. Marvel, and it's easy to care about her struggles. But. This feels like a good comic that happens to star Ms. Marvel, rather than a good Ms. Marvel comic. Does that make sense? It's woven tightly into the bigger X-Story; it doesn't stand on its own feet the way virtually all previous Ms. Marvel volumes did. That's no deal-breaker, particularly not to a Marvel Unlimited nerd like me who's reading everything anyway. But what we all really hunger for is a good Ms. Marvel comic, and this isn't quite that.

I don't think that I really have that much to say about this one other than that I thought it was really solid and that I think all of the characters are written well. I'm not sure how I feel about the Doctor Surfer character, but I'm still interested enough to see where this goes.
