Moon Knight #188 introduces a new, terrifying villain into Moon Knight's rogues' gallery. While Marc Spector himself does not show up, we do get a fully fleshed-out villain in Moon Knight #188. The art and story are a great departure from the last series, which is welcome, and I am glad that the creative team is trying something new and different with Moon Knight. What an introduction to this series! I have to say that it's a good read despite the titular character's absence. The art was very well done (and what a beautiful cover!). I feel confident in saying we can look forward to a good looking book going forward. We get a very good introduction to what I expect to be a major villain going forward and I can't wait to continue the ride. Read Full Review

I pray that Bemis pulls a total 180 in the next issue and surprises the hell out of me by upping the stakes and throwing a few curveballs in the characterization. But based on this script, I cannot find a reason to believe otherwise. This story seems D.O.A. I hope he proves me wrong. Read Full Review

This is an outstanding introduction to Moon Knight's new villain, the character is both believable, but also horrifying and the book plays nicely on Egyptology, Moon Knight's history and various other areas of mythology & psychology. Burrows art offers a flat, haunting, feel which is just perfect for the feel of the book. A very exciting start to this series.

Finally! Moon Knight is back! What a way to kick things off. While the story did not have much if any of Moon Knight himself, his influence and lore is on full display. This sets up a villain that truly could be Moon Knight's equal. The art and tone was dark and is exactly what this series needs.

In an attempt to expand the rogues gallery of Moon Knight we are introduced to a new foe. Much like Moon Knight draws on the power of Khonshu, this new enemy mysteriously draws on the power of Amon Ra. The origin and threat of this new villain is explored throughout the majority of the issue. This creates the main problem I had with this Legacy release, Moon Knight and his personalities never appear. That seems like a strange place for a starting point. Still the tale being told sets up such a great story and threat that I barely noticed and would have to say it works. We do get a bit of discussion in narration on Marc and his connection to this new character to at least make him involved so he is not totally absent. This is all capped off with the art. The art is some of the strongest and most fitting in terms of tone and atmosphere that I have seen in the Marvel titles. The faces are expressive and there is enough detail to engage. This was a stand out issue for me with the Legacy relaunch. more

Good introduction to an interesting new villain. Pleasantly dark story. Burrows' art fits perfectly with Moon Knight.

Max Bemis makes a bold choice by making this issue entirely an introduction to a new nemesis; it's a brand-new Moon Knight book starting without a scrap of Moon Knight. It's also, challengingly, a direct sequel to the last volume; I don't think this would make a lick of sense without reading the Lemire/Smallwood volume first. Jacen Burrows's art is flat but beautifully detailed and finished. This is a promising start but there are still giant questions marks over how the series will evolve.

The dialog isn't perfect and the story is cliche, but the art has plenty of personality (very similar to Chris Burnham) and Bemis's mythological take is fascinating.

I love the Lemire Run. So I tried this new one. I was at first disappointed to see the start once more in a Asylum. But I find it nice to see that is a completely different character and not Moon Knight at all. In the same time it's weird too read a moon Knight title & don't have him in it. Well he was there by tells or flashback, but that wasn't enough. And in the same time, I don't know if the title succeed to hooked me. Cover - Love this cover (And now this is not a lenticular, not in France). 1/2 Writing - Mixed Filling 1.5/3 Arts - A good job, but a little to frozen. And that lack of madness. 2/3 Feelings - Not sure that the kind of title I will follow. But for being fear, I wasn't sure at the start of Lemire Run too. 1/2 5.5/ 10 more
