This sums it up pretty well. Halfway through I forgot it was even a Punisher title. Then the Punisher appears, and I was still like, "huh?"

Looks like it's up to Punisher 2099 to clean up the block - the only question is, who's behind the mask?

You Don't Read Comics - Brandon Masters
Nov 27, 2019Punisher 2099 is a rare breed: a Punisher comic that wants to make you think. With that alone, this book deserves to be read, but it helps that the story and artwork perfectly together to relate. Read Full Review

Newsarama - Justin Partridge
Nov 26, 2019Even in the future, the world requires punishment, and The Punisher 2099 #1 delivers as such with brains and brawn. Headlined by a writing team who make this one-shot more than the sum of its parts and an art team unafraid to lean into more outlandish visual qualities, this 2099 installment could arguably be called one of the better efforts. If you like your Punisher tales with a bit more to say and a little less empty wanton violence, then look to the future and The Punisher 2099. Read Full Review

Nov 29, 2019The story was not seamless, but it gave everything it needed to in a good way. The art compliments the tone of the writing and had great detailed backgrounds that added to the story. Great work here from the creative team. Read Full Review

Nov 27, 2019Punisher 2099 is filled with unique ideas, but they stack atop each other messily and that leaves the comic with a disjointed finished product. It's unable to balance its story with its grand themes. Eventually, leaving us with a fleshed-out world but a paper-thin protagonist. Read Full Review

Dec 02, 2019What do you get when you slap together a couple cringified "society and technology bad!" rehashes of Black Mirror episodes with a story that's irrelevant to the event it's named after as well as kicking Punisher 2099/2099 lore in general in the face? This joint. Read Full Review

Weird Science Marvel Comics - Jim Werner
Nov 27, 2019This book may have a cool concept, but it has way too many problems for me to recommend it. It didnt feel like a Punisher book and took way to long to even get any Punisher action. The twist that these 2099 books seem to rely on was not shocking at all and didnt do anything to elevate the story. Overall, another disappointing return to the Marvel Future. Read Full Review
