Essentially, Invincible Iron Man doesn't do a whole lot of movement in the story, but gives some nuggets here and there about the man that is Tony Stark before the next arc where Tony will definitely be a focus kicks off. Riri isn't central here and we don't know how much she will be in the subsequent issues, but still an important read for the throughput of the next arc. Read Full Review

Ok ... A transition issue. I buy it for Riri & I have to many page on a flashback about Tony hitting MJ. That make me feel bad. The Riri flashback is not that great to. The end was ... Ok ... The art have some flaw and without a good fight we saw that more. So not the Bendis i like to read ... At all !

While not a horrible issue, it just did not hit the sentimental spot on me I think it was intended too. The art in this series has always been a solid part of what makes it good. This issue is no different. I really am looking forward to the legacy arc beginning and hope it starts off much stronger than how this issue ended.

We fill some time in the run-up to Legacy with guest artists and the hagiography of Tony Stark. Brian Michael Bendis complicates this indulgent party with his afterward, revealing that the most eye-rollingest "c'mon, seriously" thing Tony's shown doing here is something that his saintly recently-deceased neighbor actually did. Sentiment aside, it's a just slightly above-average retrospective on Tony Stark, most of which (excepting the abrupt pivot into generic manga-town in the final pages) looks very pretty.

This series has been pretty damn good, but this issue is a disappointment. It's basically a space/time-filler before the Legacy relaunch next month, and it reads like filler. The women of Tony's life gather to discover he's not a total asshole after all! I found the multiple artists here jarring--they really took me out of the book. When your regular artist is Stefano Caselli, any drop in quality is shocking. There are a few pages of anime style big eyes near the end and I was like, "Nope. No no no." This is probably just a blip in the quality radar, but there's nothing that will be missed from skipping this issue.
