Overall, Invincible Iron Man, which is the flagship Marvel title, has concluded its first arc with definite promises of change for several characters and that will almost likely include pushing Iron Man and Tony to their limits especially since seeds are being planted for Civil War II during the next arc! Bendis' character work is fantastic and Marquez and Ponsor deliver on the visual side to create a total package that is worthy of being a top 10 book. Invincible Iron Man continues to reflect the best attributes of both of its creators, Brian Michael Bendis and David Marquez. The appearance of Mary Jane is a welcome addition to the cast and has already found a fitting place alongside Tony as he blasts his way through Madam Masque's mystical powered attacks. Invincible Iron Man #5 brings the first arc of this new ongoing to a fantastic conclusion with Tony's battle against Madame Masque and him teaming up with Victor Von Doom leading to some intense events. The creative team also justify Mary Jane Watson place within this narrative, with there being a lot to look forward to as we head into “The War Machines.” Read Full Review

The story is alright, mostly. It's Bendis' use of characters that's really fun. He does a great job with the charming and witty Tony Stark, who can get serious when need be, whether he's trying to convince Masque to calm down or when he's offering Mary Jane a job. This comic definitely isn't just a placeholder book to keep Marvel's key movie star untouched. Bendis and Marquez are telling a simple, enjoyable Iron Man story. I like it. Read Full Review

The Villain

This issue gets better as it goes. There are few funny moments when Doctor Strange makes a small appearance. We get to hear more elaboration about the connection between Mary Jane and Tony and the two will almost certainly be working together over the next couple issues. Their moment together at the end of the book is probably my favorite moment in a book that has 3 big interactions between big characters.
