Although quieter than previous installments,Invaders #7 does a great job of moving the pieces around the chessboard to set the stage for the next arc. Anyone wondering about the hype of Chip Zdarsky's Eisner win would do well to check this book out. Month in and month out, he proves his writing chops, and that he deserved that win. Seems like Zdarsky watched Civil War and got a hard on with all this Steve/Tony/Bucky tension lol. Anyways this was a good issue but like shouldn’t Toro be dead or at least 85ish years old? I mean he was like 12 during World War II and he looks 50 present day so a little confusing.

Namor sinks deeper into madness, Iron Man barrels around like a loose cannon, and the exciting realpolitik chess game ratchets forward by several moves. This series is doing great at engaging me via plot; I remain stubbornly unhooked on the visuals or the character work.
