Inglorious X-Force is an engaging establishing salvo that demonstrates the writers familiarity with the characters through superb character voice. While it doesn't offer up any earthshattering surprises, the mystery at it's center, the pacing of the script and the excellent execution in art and coloring do more than enough to make you want to know what's going to happen next! Inglorious X-Force #1 is an exciting, fun start to this new series, with a team that combines various eras of X-Force and that leans into nostalgia but still provides fresh faces. The art is well drawn and coloured, and Seeley packs a good amount of material in this debut issue, giving the story momentum and a hook.  Read Full Review

Inglorious X-Force #1 is a competent recruitment mission that mistakes momentum for narrative strength. Cable assembles his team with all the emotional weight of a corporate onboarding session, checking boxes rather than earning investment. Ms. Marvel is the only character with real resistance to the premise, which makes her forced inclusion feel cynical and her character regressive. The twist ending is clever enough to suggest that future issues might explore genuine moral complexity, but this debut issue is too preoccupied with setup to deliver anything beyond serviceable superhero machinery. The art looks surprisingly solid. Not great, but solid, which is something I can't say about many Marvel books these days. However... Hellverine!?! Seriously? Even the name is cringe. The whole team roster looks odd, with just two other male characters besides Cable and Boom Boom as a token woman. WTF. Anyway, I was willing to give X-Force a chance and... I didn't expect it to be that badly written. For half the book, the reader doesn't actually know what Cable's plan is, and then it turns out to be protecting Kamala Khan of all people? There are some nostalgic references to the classic X-Force, but ultimately, this book is just a shadow of all its former incarnations and just another opportunity for Marvel to push the impeccable Kama la Khan. more
