Immortal X-Men #3 is fantastic. Gillen does an HoX #2 riff but invests it with heart that the original doesnt have. It works wonderfully for the story and shows the many futures of Krakoa. While the layouts do an admirable job of giving the story the gravity appropriate to the writing of a new mutant testament, it's a shame that the visages alternate between lifelessness and overly-exaggerated, and the colors fall somewhat flat. Just a masterpiece. If we were going to have to wait decades for Marvel to explicitly acknowledge Mystique and Destiny's relationship, at least Gillen & Werneck are paying it off with one of the greatest romance stories in comic history. Even if everything else about the current era was terrible, it would all be worth it just for Immortal X-Men and X-Men Red

Wow, This was a wonderfully told love story, one of the best ever written in a marvel book. If not all of comics. This is the X-men version of "The Constant", a beloved episode for all the "LOST" fans out there. Gillen has perfected destiny's voice here, her motivations. This was a hauntingly beautiful read, i could here the orchestral score in my head swelling with the turn of each page as the story weaved in and out of its threads. Truly engaging from start to finish. Bravo Gillen, Bravo.

And *this* is what I was hoping for when I started reading a series focused on high-level X-politics written by Kieron Gillen. God, it's magnificent. Beautiful, expressive art brings out the full emotional weight of the script. The writing strikes a superb balance between cosmic prophecy and the intensely personal matter of Destiny's marriage. It's heartbreaking and fascinating and it completely lives up to the biggest of the big-picture plotting Hickman used to kick off the Krakoan era. Is this volume going to be 12 issues with each taking the point of view of a different Council member? Dang, that'd be cool.

I love when writers both embrace and enhance the ideas of those that came before. So I'm very happy to say that Kieron Gillen really has just taken the baton from Hickman and sprinted off like he's channeling Usain Bolt at the Olympics. This issue was just fantastic. The ongoing mental chess match between Destiny and Sinister is fascinating to me as they're both perfect foils for one another. Destiny can't let him know that she knows what he knows: any time he likes, Sinister can kill a Moira clone to reset the timeline. It's brilliant stuff that feels appropriately weighty for a title called Immortal X-Men.

This book continues to be fantastic. I'm not the biggest Destiny fan, but Gillen makes her a very compelling character here. Her love story with Mystique is well-done throughout this issue, and I really liked how she realized that Sinister cloned Moira. Along with Werneck's great art, Gillen writes a very intriguing story that continues to maintain my attention in this era of X-books.

It's good drama but this didn't hit for me as it did for many here because Destiny by herself or with Raven were never that interesting to me except when they interact with others (Moira or Sinister for example). I do like the concept of nexus events but still hesitant about how it translates into what transpired. But to each his own. Still better than what happened during dawn of X and we're headed in the right direction. Werneck is great especially those vision pages!
