The true villain of this arc may not be abundantly clear at this time, but right now thats ok, because right now the personal drama of whats going on with Banner is far more compelling than most any hero/villain dynamic. Im not sure that Ive ever been more interested in a Hulk book than I am right now. I cant wait to see just what the status quo will be once this arc is finished. Every good jumping-on place can also be a jumping-off time. If youve decided the latter, I think you should reconsider that. Mr. Waid always delivers engaging stories and characters, so youd be missing out on a lot if you let Hulk go! Read Full Review

Bagley, Hennessy, and Keith all bring this story to life with detailed drawings and colors that pop. Their rendition of Hulk as Abomination is startling and all together creative; making him look similar enough to be recognizable but evil enough to tell the difference. Despite all of these issues, I still enjoyed reading this month. It wasn't my favorite pull this week, but it was far from horrible. I can't put my finger on it, but Hulk #2 still draws my attention. Perhaps it is the art, or perhaps it is loveable simpleton that Banner has become. Either way, I'll be reading for at least one more month, and I think you should too. Read Full Review

"Hulk" #2 is a decent continuation of the adventures of Bruce Banner and his green-skinned alter ego. Waid and Bagley have found an angle to present new challenges and growth opportunities for the Hulk, Bruce Banner, the relationship between the two and their relationship with S.H.I.E.L.D. While this issue brings back one of Hulk's most dangerous foes, the mystery remains behind who is responsible for the attack on Banner. Waid also leaves readers wondering just how severely Banner's injury is going to affect the Hulk. Not readily apparent in the fight against Abomination, there is plenty of potential for the writer to forge new paths. "Hulk" #2 finds its stride just in time to wrap up, leaving readers with a cliffhanger until the next issue. Read Full Review

Mark Bagley's layouts are clear and he produces some high-energy action scenes, but it all leads to a cliffhanger that is ultimately unexciting as new, faceless foes materialize with an empty threat. Read Full Review

The Bottom Line: There is a deliberate choice to once again keep the Hulk marginalized as a key player to this story, but in this issue it works to a decidedly less extent than the previous. Many of the benchmarks to a good comic are on display, but personally it fails to click with me, in particular because I feel like there's an absence of some genuine emotions that should be driving the characters through this very plot-driven story arc. To my knowledge, this is uncharted territory for Banner. I can't see where Waid is taking this...but that's what makes it exciting! Great expressions in Bagley's art as well.

Uhhh. Okay, Abomination is back, cool. But I need something more, than that. It's still cool, but the first issue was a bit more promising.

Reading the all new hulk is a test in patience. I despise when something that I love about a character is taken away with a horrible reason. I don't want to read about Mr. Fantastic losing his stretch, or the Punisher getting married....or The Wolverine not being able to heal 0_o. If the drastic change was for the better I would be uhh forgiving, but this is just bad. I'm giving this series one more issue, it better start coming together.
