This book is returning the saga of the guardians to their zany, wacky, nigh experimental whims in a really unique way bordering on the abstract. Killing off your entire team in the first few issues only to reintroduce them as zealots of an ancient tree people sworn only bring about the rebirth of the universal order is certainly bold and not something every writer could pull off. But this one does it. The guardians feel both familiar and alien as they run in guns blazing go uncharted territory under this new mission. Im really hoping people are sticking along for the ride because kind of cosmic fantastical storytelling is some of the best marvel can offer.

There isn't a bunch of furtherance here in terms of the overall story, but I did find this super interesting. Here, we delve more into these new versions of the team members that we first saw in the previous issue. I think Walker's art fit nicely here as well. Hopefully we get some stronger developments as we get to the final few issues.

It's entertaining for sure, and the plot takes a nice left turn before winding up where I expected it to be. But overall, there's not a lot of development. On the character side, what we get is spread a bit too evenly across the entire team for any one Guardian to stand out--which isn't a terrible fault. The art's appealing and the dialogue has its fair share of good lines.
