This issue truly marks the end of an era at Marvel, and Brian Bendis and his collaborators give the Guardians the farewell they deserve. This issue has the scope of a huge event crossover but keeps the focus squarely on the Guardians and their family dynamic. The ending of this issue, and the series(es) is lackluster, more whimper than bang, but Bendis does get a chance to highlight his contributions to the Guardians of the Galaxy brand Ben Grimm, Kitty Pryde, Angela, and Carol Danvers. Its nice to see the Guardians latched into the larger Marvel Universe. That said, I just dont see the need to come back to this segment of the Guardians history at this point, like I regularly go back to re-read the 2008 series from Abnett and Lanning. The team is, essentially, the same as they were when Bendis picked them up in 2012. They have a few more friends, and arent as confined to the stellar settings, but thats about it. Its nice to draw this to a close, but with the artists on hand, I almost think I would have preferred Bendis writing captions for a pin-up issue. Read Full Review

I enjoyed this issue...it was a lot of fun, with a lot of great art. The story is lighter than your average fare battling Thanos, but the overall tone works in this issue.

Has about as much weight and depth as a non-continuity "Marvel Adventures" title. I expect the next Jim Starlin story will include an explanation that this was just another one of those pesky one-dimensional Thanos clones that crop up from time to time. "It's Just An Action Figure, You Should Really Just Relax" award for casually ignoring the Armadillo's origin as a tragic monster, not a dude in home-made power armor.

Brian Michael Bendis's farewell to the Guardians is monstrously self-indulgent in many different ways. The good side: This double-sized issue features some superb art by Valerio Schiti and a cavalcade of A-list guest artists. The bad side: All that brilliance is enslaved by a script so aggressively terrible that I half suspect it's a put-on. Like Mr. Bendis is saying, "See, you complain about my Guardians being slow and directionless, but a fast, driven Guardians book stinks!" No, Mr. Bendis, *your* fast, driven Guardians book stinks. I recommend reading Mr. Bendis's self-indulgent two-page farewell letter at the end. He comes within an inch of admitting that he glommed onto the Guardians in order to hog as much MCU spotlight as possible.

NOVA CORPS DOESN'T EXIST SINCE THANOS IMPERATIVE!!!!!!!!!
