Godzilla is a menace. I am hoping that the team is able to beat him. It seems that Reed and T'Challa want to take him down, but also study the monster. The team must keep the eye on the prize of actually taking down Godzilla. I believe with Reed's genius, and also the other characters and their powers, they will successfully take the monster down. Despite some stray panels where the art conflicts with the horror of the moment, Godzilla Destroys the Marvel Universe #1 is everything franchise fans might hope for. All of the action puts over Godzilla being the unstoppable King of Monsters that fans know it to be with no single Marvel hero being able to stop its rampage. Now as long as future issues stay away from up close shots of Godzilla's eyes this will hit on the mindless fun that is expect from this type of comic book Read Full Review

Overall, Godzilla Destroys the Marvel Universe #1 is an enjoyable comic. Some of Duggan's humor and Garron's artwork may not work for everyone, yet both comic creators infused the issue with plenty of heart. While the portrayal of Thor in the comic is borderline insulting, especially compared to the character's previous brawl with the King of the Monsters, Duggan makes up for it with his characterizations of the other heroes. It isn't one of the best Marvel Godzilla comics, but it continues the trend of being irreverent fun that you can turn off your brain and enjoy. Read Full Review

Plot Mole Man obtains a version of vibranium with unstable molecules and places it in his staff, where it becomes a dangerous weapon. This discovery triggers the awakening of Godzilla. Even an Eternal hatches prematurely to try to stop Godzilla, while New York and the Baxter Building shake with earthquakes. Godzilla eliminates the Eternal with a single blow. The Fantastic Four confront Godzilla and call in the Avengers and X-Men because they can't contain him. Reed activates a portal to the Negative Zone in his laboratory, but Godzilla notices and uses his tail to shake the device, and Reed, Sue, and Ben are transported to the Negative Zone. Black Panther takes Mole Man's staff to study this new iteration of vibranium. Thor is attacked by Godzilla by surprise, while Captain America manages to return Godzilla's attack using Atomic Breath. Godzilla regenerates himself faster than Deadpool. Captain Marvel, Quicksilver, Scarlet Witch, and Black Panther issue a global call for help, and Spider-Man arrives with Miles, Gwen, Iron Fist, Luke Cage, Iron Man, and Deadpool, who calls himself the "New Thunderbolts." The dialogue in this comic is brilliant, with a good dose of comedy, like when Ben tells JJ Jameson that Godzilla is Spider-Man who used the Lizzard serum on himself. Quicksilver saving everyone is one of the most dynamic sequences in this comic. A magnificent first chapter in this saga that presents Godzilla as an unstoppable force of nature that takes the Marvel Universe by storm. Lots of action with a dizzying, addictive narrative pace. Art With highly detailed art that highlights all those heroic fight poses as well as Godzilla's scale, balancing the optimism of superheroes with the terror of Godzilla.
