When I read this issue i honestly didn't see Mary proposing to Carl as SJW, but with the Leonard-Charlene part I did. And if SJW in comics upsets you then just stay away from all Al Ewing comics as a whole.

Jun 21, 2021Gamma Flight #1 does a solid job of establishing the team and what the miniseries' story will be about going forward. You get a sense of where the characters are at now that they're on the run, what some of the team dynamics are, and who the main threat will be going forward. The art and colors from Lan Medina and Antonio Fabela looks good depicting both the human characters and gamma mutates on page. This is definitely a comic for Immortal Hulk fans who want to see more of Gamma Flight. Read Full Review

Jun 27, 2021I would recommend this if you are already a fan of the Hulk and related stories and want to follow some new characters. Also it is only a short run series so it would be easier to collect all of them. Read Full Review

Jun 21, 2021For me, the unique selling point of the Immortal Hulk was the horror vibe that was in place throughout. With that said, I am not sure how readers will feel without that hook. Coupled with the fact that for the most part, these characters aren't the most popular, I am unsure of the longevity of the series; Marvel may feel the same with a five issue limit. Al Ewing, however, has been with the Hulk for a while, he and Frasier may have something up their gamma irradiated sleeves. Read Full Review

Jun 21, 2021All in all, Gamma Flight #1 delivers a middle-of-the-road debut. The character work is fun, but the plot direction is something we've all seen by this point. This paired with a solid art style marred by distracting coloring choices makes it all the more middling. This series might be worth picking up for current Immortal Hulk fans who can't get enough of the series before it ends; however, for the average comic fan this debut will not do much to attract interest.
