Despicable Deadpool #298

Deadpool, though a regular character in the Marvel Universe, is almost a send up of the whole super hero genre. Oh, he isn't an obvious send up like the Impossible man, but rather a subtle send up. He looks like a Marvel superhero, talks like a Marvel superhero and acts like a Marvel superhero, but, of course, he's different. He belongs, but he doesn't. If you like Deadpool comics, you will be right at home with this issue. Its silly comfort food, much like cartoons. Sometimes this book makes me laugh, sometimes it makes me surprised, but it always makes me smile. I dont need to think of multiverses, or timelines, or anything deep, and while those things are wonderful in other titles, I love that Deadpool is simply unapologetic. You know what youre getting most of the time in this series, and thats okay. Read Full Review

Great FUN!! I'm very much enjoying Duggan's shenanigans with Wade as he closes out his time with him. Hawthorne is a true artist who is obviously having fun too!!

Deadpool vs. Taskmaster & Bullseye & Differently-Able Bystander is a gem of pure absurdity. It looks great, it makes good jokes, and it's strictly obedient to its own deranged logic. The final page (foreshadowing another round of Deadpool vs. Heroes) is quite the letdown, but mainly because what comes before is just that brilliant.

There is not as much emotional depth to this part of the story as Deadpool sends every hitman he can after himself. Instead we get a fun encounter with plenty of action and guest villains. The issue works well enough without anything controversial or too surprising. The stand out for me was the art of the issue. Portraying the action worked really well and worked great in this issue. It might not be clear where we are heading in issue three hundred since we know Wade will live through this, so there could be some surprises in store still.
