Jul 13, 2017Bendis is doing an amazing job of rebuilding the Marvel "street level superhero" world. I love how he has breathed this new enthusiasm into the Black Cat, Diamondback, the Punisher, Night Nurse, really this entire universe of great characters. This is some gold standard dialogue, right here. The danger of the situation is made clear while the ever-present back and forth between the main characters keeps it fun and entertaining. Word Of The Nerd - Brent Jackson
Jul 13, 2017This series is shaping up to be a wonderful series for Marvel. It is firmly trenched in the Marvel Universe but is not weighed down by events or other storylines. At the moment it gets to be its own thing. Daredevil just randomly being shot is strange for his character, and I am a little disappointed there was not a backup feature for Iron Fist or Jessica Jones in this issue. Luke Cage and Daredevil had little backup articles in the past two issues, but it does not take away from the overall enjoyment of this series. Read Full Review

Jul 17, 2017There's a lot of potential to this book, and it's clear that Bendis agrees - if he's able to actually tackle Marvel's diverse street-level heroes in an organic way, this book could really fill a role that Marvel hasn't seen in a long time. But right now, this book succeeds more on the strength of David Marquez and Justin Ponsor, working oftentimes in spite of their script just as much as because of it. Diamondback gets even more dangerous and the Punisher learns that you reeeeally want to have a plan for handling Luke Cage before you go shooting his wife, no matter how rubber-bullet-y you're being. There are about three weaknesses in this comic, all of them highly forgivable. On the other side of the scale, there are at least a half-a-dozen "holy ˜ ˜ ˜ ˜ !" moments that tempt you to put the issue down and applaud. Some of them are pure writing goodness, some of them are visual triumphs, and some are rare combinations of script and art working in perfect harmony. What do I mean? A panel where Daredevil's baton hits the Punisher's gun just as he pulls the trigger, sending a bullet past the mook it was aimed at and right into the reader's fa more

Defenders delivers again with a fun "down on the streets" investigative issue. We learn about all the beef between Luke Cage and Diamondback and it was done in a creative way. I am really enjoying the small time crime, this series is going to be a great way to get away from "end of the world" schemes. I expect a dramatic story of vengeance.

This is a really great book. It features an excellent method of exposition by Bendis, having the people of New York narrate the history of Diamondback and Luke's beef...I was thinking it almost went on too long, until it merges with the action as the Punisher makes an awesome (and brutal) entrance. I really liked the two scenes that end the book, with Daredevil and Cage taking on Punisher and Iron Fist and Jessica taking on Diamondback. Then the issue ends in a bit of a shocker which may or may not be a tribute to one of Batman's most famous scenes. And David Marquez continues to deliver.

I am loving this series. The art is probably my current favorite. The story is a little slow like most of Bendis' stuff,but it is definitely quality. The Punisher aspect still has a lot to be elaborated on. Overall, a solid read that will keep me reading.

Defenders 3 finally picks up the pace. Danny got totally Baned!! Bendis still tries way too hard with the witty dialogue and I am somewhat annoyed with how powerful Willis Stryker is now compared to the other Defenders, but Defenders 3 is definitely the best issue yet.
