Deadpool vs. Old Man Logan #1

All and all I thought this was a really good issue, I like seeing Deadpool and Old Man Logan together it makes for a good read. This issue probably should have gotten a five out of five, but I am actually starting to wear a little thin on the whole Deadpool scene. Marvel have simply over loaded my system with I do believe. With the release of the hugely popular Deadpool movie starring Ryan Reynolds it has catapulted the Deadpool character into a Spider-Man or X-Men status where they are instantly recognizable by everyone. Marvel is taking full advantage of this by flooding the market with everything Deadpool, and why shouldn't they you have to strike while the iron is hot. In the end this is a good read and I recommend it and I am looking forward to the next issue and further more looking forward to Mike Henderson's artwork. Read Full Review

If you are a fan of these characters, more than likely Deadpool Vs. Old Man Logan is already on your pull list. But if it isn't and you are on the fence, I am here to tell you run out and pick up this book! The action is rowdy and the comedy is actually humorous and will bring a smile to your face. Overall, its an entertaining issue to say the least. Logan is a good choice for Deadpool to clash with. If you like these two characters then this is going to be a fun five-part series. However, if you're feeling fatigued by Deadpool and all of his versus titles, then you won't really be missing out if you skip this one. Read Full Review

Unfortunately, Deadpool vs. Old Man Logan does little to stand out in a sea of Deadpool crossover comics. This first issue does little to tap into the meat of the Deadpool/Wolverine dynamic. Nor does it showcase Wade's comedic side particularly well. And while the art style is a great fit, the storytelling is riddled with a number of flaws that hinder the flow of the issue. Deadpool vs. Old Man Logan #1 delivers on the fun of having these two characters crossing paths with one another. Unfortunately that fun does run dry by the end of this issue as writer Declan Shalvey delivers a generic comic book plot for Deadpool and Old Man Logan to be involved in. This number 1 didn't do much for me. Started with a typical Deadpool scene. Followed by an out of no where run in with Logan. After a few pages of back and forths , both physically and verbally, Deadpool and Logan stumble upon this Omega-level mutant, who is left in the destruction she mysteriously caused while civilians run away. So of course she runs away. And Logan sends Deadpool after her??? Why did he change his mind? And at the end Logan gets captured by a group trying to make contact with this new Omega-level mutant. Overall this was a quick read with good art and filled with mediocre jokes. I hope the upcoming issues can pull it together and tell us a good story while having a few laughs.

Deadpool and OML are randomly (*really* randomly) thrown into a bog-standard "dangerous new mutant on the run" story. It starts with a slow-paced but brilliant "crosses the line twice" joke that establishes a notably high visual bar; Mike Henderson and colorist Lee Loughridge deliver great art throughout. As the script unfolds, though, it becomes clear that Declan Shalvey is struggling to merge an absurdist sense of humor with a fast-paced plot, and his attempt ends up hurting both. Even worse, he can't find a strong voice for either Wade or Logan. Besides sounding "off," their comedy chops stink, and that's a pretty big problem for a title that wants to be silly.

Boring jokes,lazy writing, terrible art. One of the worst marvel reads of 2017. Pass on this one and check out ANYTHING else.
