Deadpool #4

Solid script by Brian Posehn and Gerry Duggan? Check. Ridiculously good art by Tony Moore and Val Staples? Check. Shirtless Abe Lincoln throwing down with Deadpool in a ring? Check. Deadool fans, this is a must read. It's packed with big laughs, hysterical and violent action, and to top it off, the book looks amazing. Do yourself a favor and read this one ASAP. Read Full Review

This get's a perfect 5/5. I mean, where else are you gonna see a character beat the ectoplasm out of Abraham Lincoln or any other president for that matter? …. Give up? …. Nowhere. A truly brilliant issue, and in my opinion the best in the series so far. It's a really funny issue, with some amazing action, and I'd highly recommend it to anyone, whether they're a Deadpool fan or not, as if you're not, this series will most likely turn you into one. Read Full Review

This issue of Deadpool is packed with jokes, fighting, killing, jokes, killing and Deadpool. It all comes down to if you're a fan of Wade Wilson or not, if you are though definitely pick up with book. Read Full Review

Deadpool #4 is a bit sporadic and a tad chaotic, but it fits the plot very well. When a comic series four issues in can make you laugh out loud more and more each issue you know the writers are doing something right. Complete the circle with an art team that understands anatomy, gore, and humor and you've got yourself a winner. Rob Liefeld should be proud. Read Full Review

A mildly funny comic with terrific art, surprisingly great action and all the Deadpool shenanigans the fans could ask for. If Brian Posehn and Gerry Duggan improves a little bit with the jokes and continue like this with the rest, we may end up with a truly memorable Deadpool run. Read Full Review

Deadpool isn't the best book out, it's really not even in the top 10 books you could be buying. There are books with way better writing, plot, art, etc. But I can't think of many that are nearly as fun as this book. Read Full Review

All in all this issue was another where I enjoyed parts, thought others dragged on a bit too long and some of the humor felt forced. This was a 3.5 for me from start to finish, but I had to bump it up to a 4 because not mentioning Sabinos lettering work would be criminal. Bottom line is that Deadpool is still the most fun comic that I'm reading right now. It's out there, but it's pretty hilarious, and this issue is no different. Keep the laughs coming, Marvel. I'm enjoying them. Read Full Review

Overall this is another solid issue full of humour and violence which most people will enjoy and continues the titles strong start and leaves me wondering what comes next after the dead presidents are gone story line wise, not that Im worried in the slightest Im just going to enjoy the ride. Highlight of Deadpool #4 has to be Wade Wilson dressed up as Marilyn Monroe and flashing his junk at zombie JFK. Now go back and read that last sentence, think it over and ask yourself can you do without a comic book with a scene like that in your life? I know I cant. Read Full Review

However, there are a couple of things that I dislike about this issue. The first of which is the repetition. I think that there is little to distinguish this chapter in the story from those that have come previously except for the jokes and the names of the presidents being killed. Maybe it will read a little better when I have the entire arc, but as of now, this issue is a little bit forgettable. My only other problem with the book is way in which the panels are laid out. This is just a minor nitpick, but I really enjoy it when the artists and writers think up unique ways to present the story. I don't really get that with this book. The highlight of this issue, as with previous issues, is Tony Moore's art. He gives every character an exaggerated, expressive nature. The humor of the book is elevated by Moore's handling of every scene. Of course, what Moore does best is draw people being torn to pieces, and there is tons of that in this issue. The violence looks over the top and ridiculous, which fits the tone of this series perfectly. Lincoln vs. Deadpool during a UFC match looks great. What can I say about this book that I havent already said? If youre looking for a straightforward, gory read, Deadpool delivers exactly what it promises. Lots of blood and guts mixed with flimsy one-liners and consistently good artwork by Moore, this issue is just more of the same. I tried to have an open mind about this title, but the jokey, one-note dialogue is more grating than funny, and the whole thing falls flat for me. Maybe this works for some readers, but I just cant get behind this title. Read Full Review
