Posehn & Duggan are doing a great job telling a balls to the wall action story while Tony Moore & Val Staples perfectly complement them on art and coloring duties. If you're looking for a straight up action series that will make you laugh while not taking itself too serious then Deadpool is for you. Read Full Review

Deadpoolisnt just a fun book, theres a lot of substance as well. The book feels longer than the average comic, despite still only being 20 pages. I completely agree with my fellow reviewer, Kelly Thompson, on her assessment that the "entire creative team seems well-assembled and completely in sync." From the opening recap page to the setup for the next issue, the story moves along and the creators deliver quite an adventure to absorb and more than enough reasons to re-read and recommend "Deadpool" #2. Two issues in and DEADPOOL remains strong as Marvel's go-to book for absurdity. Seeing Deadpool face individual Presidents is sure to be a unique and creative experience as each battle (so far) is tailor-made to capitalize on their personalities. The overall plot is moving at a steady rate and Tony Moore's artwork is phenomenal. Overall, a solid start to Deadpool's new run and hopefully it'll remain at this level of quality. Read Full Review

Deadpool #2 was yet another awesome installment in the new series, staying funny and fresh with a huge glass of violence in hand. I have complete faith in the Posehn/Duggan writing team to keep making Deadpool a bold and humorous character and continue breaking free from monotony. Tony Moore is also a winner in this issue with his artwork. The elephant being electrocuting by Deadpool looks awesome--definitely one of the coolest things we've seen drawn in comic books this year! Some of the Deadpool humor might just seem a bit cheesy, at times, but that just sums him up for me. Brian Posehn and Gerry Duggan have done a good job, so far, balancing a good story with humor, to good effect. Moore captures the brutality and poses of Deadpool brilliantly, especially the scene with the elephant. More of the same for issue #3, please. I give this an 8/10. Read Full Review

The Presidents are still undead, and Deadpool is making sure they get back to just being dead. It's not a perfect series by any means, and it's stumbled a bit out the gate, but things are beginning to mesh. The entirety of the creative team is coming together during this first arc, and while it's already a bit of a bumpy road, the kinks are beginning to get worked out. Hopefully the trend will continue and this series will head upwards towards becoming a hilarious, ridiculous and fun series that fans have come to know and expect from Deadpool and his misadventures. There are some genuinely funny moments in this issue, but unfortunately a lot of the dialogue was too cheesy for my tastes. There was a bit of that going on in the last book too, but I was willing to let it slide as it was the opening issue and the mechanics of good characterization can take a little while to work out. I can appreciate Posehn's and Duggans attempts to keep this a darkly funny book, but sometimes the jokes are just ham-fisted. That said, I do enjoy the wacky premise and the totally nonsensical treatment of historical figures. I just wish we could get a little depth back in this character. Its a fun title, and as always Moores pencils sell the craziness and the bloodshed with great flare, but I guess I was just hoping for a little more. Read Full Review

Altogether, I wouldn't consider this a complete waste of three dollars... After all, it's not in just any book we can see Deadpool fight a zombified Teddy Roosevelt. In the ranking of nerd fantasy battles I think that sits almost even with Boba Fett vs. Nikolai Tesla. But I'm still going to take a pass on issue #3. Instead, I'll get my monthly dose of Danny Way's Deadpool in the upcoming reboot of Thunderbolts, which, uncultured philistine that I am, I'm sure I'm going to love.Oh, and cover artist Geoff Darrow can't draw elephants worth a pile of dog poop. I really wanted to like Deadpool, I really did. I'm a huge fan of Brian Posehn's stand-up comedy, and I kept hearing good things about Gerry Duggan's past work. Pairing two proven funnymen with an erratically humorous character like Deadpool seemed like a slam-dunk, at least theoretically. In reality, Deadpool is one of the worst new titles I've read this year. Any attempt at humor falls flat, all uses of extreme blood and gore is unnecessary, and the narrative itself is as flimsy as the paper it's printed upon. Save your $2.99 and stay away from this book. This issue's humor seemed a little more settled. The visuals were hilarious and I had many laugh-out-loud moments. Pretty awesome.
