Weird Science Marvel Comics - mrgabehernandez
Aug 23, 2023Deadpool #10 brings the series and Alyssa Wong's time on the character to a close with an uncharacteristically decent finale. The tone, wit, humor, and sweetness that made issue #1 a surprise came back just in time to say goodbye. That said, it's clear Wong was never a good fit for the character, so it's time to say farewell and move on. Read Full Review

While this did feel a little rushed at times, in my opinion, I thought this was a nicely done finale for this series. I really wish this run went on longer, as I was really enjoying it and I thought there was so much more that could be done with the cast available. Nonetheless, this issue is able to wrap things up in a fairly satisfying way. Thinking about these past 10 issues, my biggest complaint of the series is that we didn't get more.

Wade and Valentine make it to a solid happily-ever-after in this humorous, cleanly illustrated final chapter. What's pleasantly surprising is that, with the main couple's resolution being fairly simple, the creators go for extra points by adding a compelling bit of growth for Lady Deathstrike, too. There's even space to rescue the last two Atelier assassins and make them interesting enough that I hope to see them again. It lands at a positively idyllic status quo, and while I don't expect it to last long when Deadpool gets his next volume, it's a charming place to leave him. And hopefully, the next author will recognize that Valentine is worth keeping around.

A rushed ending, but Deadpool can't seem to keep a run going anymore no matter who they throw at it. I liked this run overall, it was fun. I think it was a mistake to group it with the Krakoa titles, because it literally has nothing to do with anything else, and that's frustrating when the pretense is that it's inherently involved.

started off good, then this series was rushed. I wondered if this series was cancelled prematurely.
