Sep 28, 2021The Scarlet Witch and Doctor Doom are coming face to face with one of the oldest gods in the Marvel firmament, and it looks like if they dont act fast enough therell be hell to pay. Orlandos got a decent handle on the characters voices, and Tormey is really strutting his stuff here. There are a few issues with how Wandas handled, but nothing that detracted from my enjoyment I have high hopes for this event thats been pushed back nearly a year and a half, thanks to Covid. I hope once this is over well see this team on something high profile. Read Full Review

Sep 30, 2021This issue sets up an interesting conflict and the art is great, especially with the designs of the Defiled. Smaller event series are clearly the way to go for Marvel right now and Steve Orlando has crafted a fun one. Read Full Review

But Why Tho? - Charles Hartford
Sep 27, 2021Darkhold Alpha #1 delivers a strong opening to its narrative, so long as you are either familiar with the legacy story it leans heavily on, or can handle feeling a bit left in the dark where certain narrative details are concerned. Read Full Review

Sep 29, 2021Darkhold Alpha is an interesting start. There's a lot thrown in and it does an excellent job of explaining things. As far as beginnings, it does what it needs to setting things up and keeping the overall story a bit of a guess. While this so far isn't a miniseries that's a must read, it does have enough interesting aspects to check out and see where it all goes. Read Full Review

Oct 05, 2021Not the best thing you'll read this month, but certainly not the worst. You've seen it all before, creatively speaking, but entertaining enough, and any time Doom gets his butt kicked it's well worth a read. Read Full Review

Sep 27, 2021Doing the heavy lifting to establish the narrative, The Darkhold Alpha #1 doesn't have a lot of action or intrigue; it only supplies the coming books their grounding. Read Full Review

Multiversity Comics - Gregory Ellner
Oct 04, 2021Although the artwork is good, as are the colors, the script of this debut is too focused on being an introduction and not enough on actually standing out in a way that is not out-of-character for participants who would attempt to do so. Read Full Review

Major Spoilers - Jonathan Cadotte
Oct 01, 2021Based on Darkhold: Alpha #1, it's really hard to gauge if this event will be good or not and that's because this issue is so full of ups and downs. There's nothing here that really sets it apart, unless you're a big fan of elements of Lovecraftian horror. Read Full Review

Sep 29, 2021Perhaps there's opportunity in the various, forthcoming one-shots to play upon this potent premise, but The Darkhold: Alpha is simply another example of something we've all read before. Read Full Review

Não é lá grande coisa, mas eu gosto de ver alguns personagens aqui reunidos.

Doom digs up the true Darkhold, alerting the Scarlet Witch to trouble. They laboriously explain the threat of Chthon, then Wanda gathers a team of heroes to oppose him, then it all goes wrong. I like both the premise and the format of this mini-event; sort of a themed anthology series. This introduction goes on way-hey-hey too long, though.

This is not very good. I didn't expect much from Steve Orlando, so I wasn't shocked. Hopefully the other creators involved in this mini-event thing can make some cool one-shots with this concept.

Bland art, bland characters, bad pacing, and uninteresting dialogue..... yup looks like a standard Marvel Crossover Event!
